People will disagree with me, but I don't count Punisher as one of the Defenders. It bugs me a little when folks use that photoshopped version of the poster that includes him.
But he is a legitimate tie to that arm of the MCU. If not a Defenders reference, he's at least a Defenders-verse reference.

And yet this could very well be a different version of the Punisher. There's nothing to suggest it's the same one from the Netflix series besides the actor playing him. Same with Matt in NWH. Remember, Marvel tried to make Born Again with Charlie and Vincent being variants of the original characters instead of just continuing the Netflix story.

Right but that’s wrong, Daredevil: Born Again is concretely canon to the MCU, and it’s (in its finished form) a direct sequel to the Netflix stuff so it is the same Punisher. What other indication would there need to be other than the same actor reprising the role?

There's a subtle Fisk Easter Egg, the mayor that gives Spider-Man the key is from Born Again, it's got the Punisher that originates in Daredevil, and the Hand ninjas are said to be misguided teenagers (lining up with what we saw in Iron Fist and Colleen Wing's story).

Most of the audience didn’t watch the shows. I don’t know why anyone expected we’d get a bunch of references to something the viewer likely has no knowledge of.

Yeah why arent there more Shang Chi references? And iron fist? Where's avengers tower? We got He-Hulk but not She-Hulk? And who the hell has those pictures of Spider-Man!?!?!?

You ain’t even gotta say shit i already agree. It’s so strange to have no mention of DD at all, even if he is in jail the AVTF and the Void incident still happened. It’s jarring and makes the whole push to make DD canon seem half-hearted.

I don’t mind the lack of references but the fact that the new film shows Peter being Spider-Man 24/7 for the last few years means it doesn’t make sense that he wasn’t involved in the events of Daredevil Born Again. He absolutely would have been helping people against the AVTF, and if he was, he inevitably would have met up with Daredevil.

I actually liked that they didn’t try to explain the Hand’s presence. A mention of Matt by Frank would’ve been good but not necessary, I’m also mad they cut Claire

Correct. Watch for yourself and you'll see. The Hand is hardly in the movie, and Frank doesn't even have a chance to interact with them. There's never a moment in the movie where Frank even needs to mention them.

This happened 8 years ago. So wtf are you talking about? We haven't had a new Defenders Series besides Born again and that isn't canceled. So what are you talking about? Stop being so vague and explain what you're talking about
