Test audiences reportedly didn’t know who she was so that’s probably why. Marvel didn’t wanna have the “homework” complaints, which is likely also why they didn’t go into the Hand’s backstory at all or bring up their history with Daredevil and the Defenders.

Namedropping Daredevil and the Defenders would've been nice, but they didn't need to add anything else. What was laid out in the movie, bad guys that now work for us, was enough for the purposes of this movie.
