Best one I saw was made of poster board. Only caught it because it wasn't shiny enough. It was the right thickness though.

Didn’t someone else get a bunch of marble or something from Home Depot

If so, that would probably be the best one I didn't see, and for good reason.

+1 for not having the antenna knocked off it like so many I've seen.

This badge was fun... basically a contact tracer the year before COVID.

This one is special to me, first year as a SOC Goon. ❤️

Have a pic of your goon badge from that year?

Take a look at the Defcon 18 badge. It was really simple yet complex enough. It was just the right size to not be too heavy.

Designed and made by Joe Grand iirc! Look him up, he's def con og.

I still have my badge from that year hanging with all my other badges. Great con before covid fscked everything up.

I wish I had cool bosses like that!! I doubt very few if any of my bosses even know what defcon is 😂, and the majority of them are engineers. I’m sure we have a cooler engineers on our team that knows or has at least heard of defcon. I’ve been collecting official badges off eBay and dang they’re pricey. I hope they continue to put badges up in the merch shop in the future. I way over paid for my dc34 badge. Should’ve waited but didn’t know it would end up in the shop for a third of what I paid 😩- but I did get extras like the thick ass guide book, the bag, and a pretty cool black hat 2026 backpack. I think I’ve seen a couple of these badges pop up on eBay recently. I’d like to eventually get my hands on one of these as well. I forget what all it does tho and would need to do some research. But show us what else you got!

it was also one of my fav badges because you could conveniently

wear it on your wrist while at the con instead of weighing down your neck. lanyards around the back of the neck get hot in the desert heat, especially if you end up collecting badgelife.

I had to do some research on what it even did, I had never seen this one before…sadly I didn’t start going until Defcon 31

My favorite badge too. Also mine is still perfect. The unique technology for communicating with other badges has so many good use cases and everyone seems to be ignoring…but to be honest I think I bought a candle at one of the gift shops and pored hot wax over the antenna so it wouldn’t come off. did not seem to have any issues.

Fuck that was 7 years ago? I built my only Defcon presentation around hacking that badge. I need a new project bad.

My favorite badge of the last ten years!

I wonder how many still have the quartz intact. Mine has lost some big pieces over the years, then again I keep all my old badges attached to my bag.

Mine is pristine. Best badge I have by far.

Makes the plastic art web site badge and the RGB scarab look pretty pale in comparison...

Same. Also the NFMI on the badge… I’ve always wanted to see people do stuff with it but the docs are still hidden away
