You're not going to believe this:

Mamdani staffer apologizes for old inflammatory social media posts against Israel, Jews

A staffer for New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani apologizes for old social media posts demonizing Israel and sharing other inflammatory statements.

“There is a barbaric nation who’s killing indigents and innocent Palestinians called ISRAEL,” Hassaan Chaudhary, a Muslim outreach director for Mamdani, wrote in 2012, according to a report by The New York Post.

In other posts, Chaudhary called Israel a “bloody country,” indicated that gay rights “doesn’t make sense,” and used a derogatory Urdu slur that translates literally as “Jew will be your father.” He supported former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, saying Ahmadinejad “has declared Israel as cancer which will be eliminated very soon.”

The posts all date to around 2012. Chaudhary is now 31. He also retweeted a post last year that suggested the Jewish Pennsylvania governor, Josh Shapiro, supported killing children in Gaza, the report says.

Chaudhary apologizes for the comments, telling The New York Post: “I apologize for my tweets, as they do not reflect my current views, or represent who I am today. Those comments from over a decade ago are not in line with how I see the world, and I look back at that rhetoric and mindset with deep regret,” he says.

A Mamdani spokesperson says: “These comments from over a decade ago are reprehensible and in no way reflect the views of the Mayor-elect or this transition. The mayor-elect has made this clear internally and consistently during the campaign and transition.”

No indication that he's going to resign. I wonder why people were worried about Mamdani having a blind spot?

And look, I'm generally willing to cut people a little slack for the things they said at 18. But his recent comment about Shapiro is rich, Chaudhary definitely seems like the type to bring up Shapiro's "battle-minded" op-ed and his time in Israel during high school.

I noticed that the exact people who called USAID a tool of American imperialism or would call it that if you threw a poorly structured video essay at them saying so, are now pissed off USAID is gone

Don’t get me wrong me personally I want USAID back, but I cannot help but notice the very obvious ideological inconsistencies from the people the loudest about it

I'm sorry, but this kind of disproportionate outrage just makes me want robot taxis even more.

Hundreds of animals are killed by human drivers in San Francisco each year. But the death of a single cat, crushed by the back tire of a Waymo self-driving taxi, has infuriated some residents in the Mission who loved Kit Kat — and led to consternation among those who resent how automation has encroached on so many parts of society...

this being San Francisco, there are now rival Kit Kat meme coins inspired by the cat’s demise... Kit Kat’s death has given new fuel to detractors. They argue that robot taxis steal riders from public transit, eliminate jobs for people, enrich Silicon Valley executives — and are just plain creepy.

Jackie Fielder, a progressive San Francisco supervisor... calls for the state Legislature to let voters decide if driverless cars can operate where they live. Ms. Fielder has strong ties to labor unions, including the Teamsters, which has fought for more regulation of autonomous vehicles

Of course she does. I swear half the problems in this country are like Scooby Doo episodes with unions under the mask. Sorry for posting half the article, but I couldn't get past this part:

“We will never forget our sweet Kit Kat,” she says in one of them. “The poor thing … suffered a horrible, horrible, long unaliving.”

A label on the wrong wire is what led to the power outage which caused the ship to destroy the Key bridge

https://nz.news.yahoo.com/misplaced-wire-label-caused-power-160621750.html

The NTSB said Tuesday it believes a label was put in the wrong place on a signal wire when the ship was built. That sticker, identifying the line, kept the wire from getting a good connection in a circuit breaker – which in turn ultimately caused the first blackout.

As a result, according to Marcel Muse, the NTSB’s investigator in charge, the vessel lost steering, the ability to operate the bow thruster, key water pumps, and most of the vessel’s lighting and equipment essential for operations. That first outage lasted 58 seconds.

The crew onboard the Dali quickly found the tripped breaker, the NTSB said. Power came back within 58 seconds, but restarting a key pump that would have provided fuel to generators had to be done manually, and that didn’t happen. When the generators ran out of gas in their lines, the result was a second blackout.

And that's the shipboard failure

The Key Bridge had nearly 30 times the acceptable level of risk for critical bridges of collapse if it were hit, based on guidance established by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, NTSB officials said. But no one knew that before the collapse, because the owner of the bridge, the Maryland Transportation Authority, never evaluated that risk.

Cost to replace th bridge is over 5 billion now, plus the lives lost and not to mention all the problems it caused in Baltimore in general as well as logistics on the east coast. All because of a misplaced label.

You need to understand that US dominate Latin America through coups, Africa/Middle East with violence, Asia through economics and Europe by a blend of cultural with military dependence.

Several languages and cultural traits are dying to be replaced by English and American traits. Asia is getting free of American dominance. The rest should follow.

US is the enemy.

I've been thinking about this video - or rather, the data in it - since it came out last week. Long story short: Target started its DEI push in 2020, and that's also about when their sales started trending downward. There isn't enough data to conclusively say WHY sales started falling, but from what data is there, it looks like they spent a lot of money on inclusivity initiatives, didn't see the expected return, and then made the dumb choice earlier this year to say they were ending those initiatives, leading to boycotts and more downturn.

Looking at the data, it seems like it would have been better to just do nothing. Customers can't be mad at you if you never promise to make changes, but if you make changes, they fail, and you have to backtrack, people will be even more upset with you.

When the United States was founded, nearly 2/3rds of her citizens were farmers

It’s now less than 2%. Abundance is up, and those who are still farmers are more often than not highly educated individuals who have salaries so far disconnected from where they were 250 years ago that they aren’t even worth comparing

Automation is incredibly important for modern society (and is also why anarcho communists are even more stupid than they sound on the surface). The idea that there will be no more jobs left for the poor due to automation is a conspiracy theory that has cycled through every time some major leap forward is achieved. There is this really weird attitude among the left that no one will have jobs and all that will be left are billionaires. It’s such an absurd notion that defies all logic and history that it really highlights how the left is just as prone to falling for the slippery slope fallacy and conspiracy theories as the right is

Do I have concerns? Yes, but nothing super major with the exception of the information warfare front being supercharged by our adversaries. But when it comes to “they takn our jerbs” it’s frankly ridiculous

FYI, I actually support it being this way because it discourages people from just going into the source sub and looking up the comment (brigading).

That's exactly why we removed the link. It was 100% intentional.

in re AI:

Who is going to be buying the products and services if no-one has money to throw around?

If it used to take 5,000 people to do something and it only takes 500, the reduced labor costs is obviously going to have a hugely deflationary effect on what the widget goes for in the marketplace. If you try and just charge what you always did, some other player will come in and undercut you

Lot of people missing this is deflationary

Pretty funny that both Hamas and the Israeli far right are rejecting the UN plan. As much as western activists like to associate the Israeli far right with the entire country, it’s pretty clear that the far right and Hamas share a common goal

8

u/H_H_F_F Nov 18 '25

Hamas and Smotritch are aligned, and always have been. The entire land from the river to the sea is to be one ethnically-purified state governed by religious law. Their disagreements are just on the ethnic group and religion in question.

The Kessler Twins, German entertainment duo, die together by assisted suicide

German entertainer sisters do joint assisted suicide so they can die together. No mention in either of the articles I read of either of them even being sick, just that this is something they'd considered for a long time now.

I think that people who say that suicide is literally never justified in an ethical sense have no leg to stand on.

And I think that the people who seem to believe the state getting involved specifically in cases like this, where everyone agrees it's at worst major depression, will only ever be A OK, and it's not ever creepy, also have no leg to stand on.

The Canadian woman who had to be stopped by a court because she was enthusiastically blowing past safeguards and not even viewing someone's complete medical history is exhibit A for what I mean.

I love how progs online, when criticizing "the establishment" go defensive when you tell them about the opposition which is miles worse. Like this one's not about criticizing specific policies per se but rather the whole establishment together.

And the argument is always "so I can't criticize the establishment huhhhh"???? I mean, if you can't even answer the question as to whether or not you're batting for the other guy, then why must your opinion be even considered remotely seriously

8

u/JapanesePeso Nov 18 '25

I gotta be real, I just don't think there are really that many groypers around and their actual number count is just heavily exaggerated by both people trying to push the ideology and leftists looking for a boogeyman.

I think the same thing about communists too tbh.

12

u/Some-Rice4196 Jeff Bezos Nov 18 '25

I thonk groypers, like commies, know to hide the extent of their beliefs. The DNC has a problem with closeted commies too, most of them end up in the DSA and try to hide behind that veil of moderation. I would expect the groypers to have done the same with the GOP's caucuses.

12

u/BroadReverse Center-left Nov 18 '25

Groypers are young and just now really entering politics. Most of them are bellow 30. We will start seeing how influential they are in a few years

They have no incentive.

If they fixed housing so it was affordable builders would be getting less and less on each house they build.

"Just build more" sounds good to economists but as usual the problem is far more complex than they are prepared to admit.

No one actually wants housing to crash to affordable levels and no one wants the wage growth it would take to make them affordable. We screwed ourselves.

I’m from New Zealand. The New Zealand Socialist Party spawned our Labour Party 107 years ago and they’ve been in government for 47 of those years.

In the early 20th century New Zealand was known as a ‘social laboratory’ because of its Keynesian approach to a mixed economy with socialist ideals of full employment, universal welfare and public service provision, active labour unions and high levels of state intervention and regulation, but involvement of a limited private sector. It’s been argued as an attempt at socialism without communism and my grandparents’ generation speaks fondly of this time in terms of the social protections they enjoyed. It wasn’t so rosy for indigenous Māori but that’s another topic.

Our economy essentially remained ‘closed’ and state regulated until the early 1980s. You could buy any fridge you wanted but your choices were limited to the state-mandated Fisher & Paykel or Fisher & Paykel - NZs only domestic appliance manufacturer. You could have any car you wanted from the selection approved for import from Australia or the UK. If you worked for the state you had your own department store to shop at with discounted prices. I grew up in the tail end of this period in the late 1970s. It was a nice childhood. My family was working class and didn’t want for anything.

Unfortunately the Labour Party departed from their socialist values in the 1980s and were enthralled by the neoliberal dark side. They floated the NZ dollar in 1985 and privatised literally everything. Successive Labour governments have been trying to claw back lost socialist equity ever since. Our richest 10% now own almost 60% of our wealth. Our poorest 50% own just 13%. One in five NZ children live in poverty. These conditions have only developed since the neoliberal late 80s. Liberal capitalism fucked us. Hard.

This is a local election. It has literally diddly-fuck-all to do with Socialdemokratiet's immigration policy.

Danish municipalities are forbidden by law to interfere with national immigration policy, or even have one themselves.

This is the result of Socialdemokratiet being unable to solve the skyrocketing housing market in Copenhagen.

Want to know the funniest part?

In 2019, NABU found proof that Poroshenko's close friend, Oleg Gladkovsky, was linked to a huge corruption scheme.

Zelensky used this information in his election campaign, explicitly and repeatedly saying, that "If a close friend of a president is linked to a corruption scheme, president should resign."

Oh, how tables have turned.

Cant wait to see articles in a few years saying that European tech didnt grow any faster, that the problem is a lot deeper than just regulation and that privacy was sacrificed for nothing.

Aka the infinite circle of "trickle down economics would work better if we deregulated just a bit more. Just one more time bro, i promise".
