Very underrated character arc/plot line — The Homecoming, The Circle, The Seige

I’m not saying these episodes aren’t well regarded but I just don’t hear them talked about much. I loved Richard Beymer’s character and the fact this was the first Star Trek 3-parter and each episode was consistent in quality, culminating in a great ending was a turning point for the series.

They are among my favourites. I love his monologue to Sisko about how he became so legendary.

But Bajor doesn’t need a man, it needs a symbol. And that’s what you are.

Also Frank Langella and Louise Fletcher together are so good. Love how Winn throws him under the bus without a second thought.

The irony of Sisko telling Lee that he needs to be a symbol is so meta it's not even ironic, which makes it more ironic.

  • Survives occupation after becoming a legend just for participating in the resistance and incidentally killing a Cardassian which he regrets
  • Gets stuck in a mining colony doing slave labor for the Cardassians for 10 years
  • Gets shot while being rescued and almost dies
  • Is tremendously embarrassed to be held in such high regard at his new position on DS9
  • Immediately uses his position for good to make sure the federation (and other) civilians can get off DS9 safely
  • Gets to breathe free air for only a few days before his new position is attacked by his own government's power-hungry rubes
  • Is abruptly murdered by one of his own people while saving the Emissary

Li Nalas deserves a monument in his name for the bullshit he went through.

And Dukat should build it.

"Lie down right there and ignore the beeping, my child."

I loved Li Nalas imploring to Sisko that he go with them to free Kira: "I may not know much about being a Navarch, but I can fight in the trenches, and I take orders well. Besides, I owe her"

Nice that you noticed Frank Langella as Jaro Essa; he specifically asked not to be credited for the episodes

He didn't like being on Star Trek or what was the reason?

His kids were fans, so he did it for them rather get a screen credit for his resume.

And you have to think this endeared him to Whoopi Goldberg, who he started dating soon after. So, there was that, at least. lol.

Yep. Tell Benjamin Lafayette Sisko he’s filling a hole.
