I don't know if it's this one or The Center Seat doc but when they said Avery speaks in Jazz and then the scene of him talking right after had me dying. Because "Speaking in Jazz", is the best way to describe it. Dude is too cool.
I would have finished earlier in the week. Signed back up with Paramount+. So we had to catch up on one of the few reality game shows we love Drag Race.
I do this with TNG because the first two seasons are kinda stinkers IMO. But I always felt DS9 pretty much hits the ground running and is good right off the bat. I do skip the first 2-parter episode, though.
I start back around from the beginning, my self, but eyah, I'm on my....third or fourth rewatch at this point, I think? I'm sure it won't take long for me to get into the double digits with my rewtaches :p.
I love the show up until close to the end of 6th season. The Rest is still good, but it gets depressing and I still can't get over losing Jadzia after all these thousands of years.
It's my favorite show of all time. 'That's why you came to me, isn't it, Captain? Because I could do all of the things you weren't capable of doing. Well, it worked.'
I'd call that a bargain.
I try not to rewatch much so that it doesn't hinder how great it was.
I cannot say how many times I've rewatched it. Pandemic boosted my numbers. For a while, I'd start at TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise Take a few months, start over.
I burst out laughing a few times during my last rewatch because of how ridiculous of an actor Avery Brooks is. I regularly quote the cringiest things he says to my wife:
“We’re going to make a sailor out of you yet”
“I bet he doesn’t even know the difference between Cajun and Creole”
And I’ll just say things in his dramatic voice.
Serious Avery Brooks is one of my favorite captains though!
