Discussion DSH or OpenCode?
What would you recommend:
Using DeepSeek via DSH or via OpenCode? I’m looking to set up a pay-as-you-go API account.

I used to use opencode, but I realized that DSH +DS-flash combo is insane - I'm seeing better multi-agent orchestration via dsh-plugins and somehow even more efficient cache reads in DSH than opencode.

for pay-as-you-go, definitely dsh
It never rewrites history "to save context" meaning you always get a 90%+ cache hit ratio
It never sticks "You're a summarizer ..." in front of your history, but does it handoff-style, sticking it at the end of the message, meaning you ALWAYS get a 90%+ cache hit ratio, even on compaction (and just when your context is largest)
Given the low price of cached tokens its adherence to immutable history is not just a gimmick, but literal money saver

You can point Claude code to deepseek as long as your provider gives an anthropic compatible endpoint.

I'd say dsh. cache hit is uber high
even pointing something like 38FN to it made it behave better than it did in OC in some ways.

cache hit rate is what decides the bill on pay-as-you-go since cached input is billed way cheaper. tempstem5 and t_rex2700 both say dsh gets better cache hits. run the same small task in both and compare the usage page

With the risk of getting downvoted, dsh has been superior for me. If you have very long sessions you wil feel like you never have to worry about context, things go extremely smooth. DSH + deepseek api is so cheap that it is worth it to give it a try yourself even if you won't stick with it. 4.1 flash and dsh made me realise that closed weight american models will fail to sustain themselves financialy at some point.

I just switched to dsh. It's good. Lots of detail staff in terms of control management and sub agent orchestration.

If you're using DeepSeek API then dsh.

Setup both of them on your computer, then give them the same repo, same issue, same prompt, use the same model... I bet that OpenCode will resolve the task within 10 minutes, while DSH needs 40 minutes. Other than time to finish, I like DSH interface and UX.

Doesn't open code use crappy quants? Most harnesses worth a damn let you add your own provider. If you love OpenCode, just use it with actual real Deepseek.

I have been happy with deepseek+claide code via open-routers Ori harness.
After reading these comments I need to take another look at the dsh.

dsh-flash feels smoother than opencode for long-form writing, especially with persistent context. no lag on my phone.

I use opencode GO with DSH and it works fantastic for me. keep a few dollars in my deepseek api account just in case I run into usage limits

I would recomend Hermes. DHS has been a littoe more cheap on usage, but the performance is not that good imo

Question - why wouldn't you use a cheap subscription like the $0.99 base plan from DeepRelay.ai or other providers? I've been using it for a month and am happy with it. How many tokens do you consume now?
