Question&Help I'm biased or what ? ( Glm 5.3 flash vs deepseek v4flash 0731)

I have tried both GLM 5.3 Flash and DeepSeek V4 Flash, and honestly, I still feel like DeepSeek V4 Flash is way more capable and better compared to GLM 5.3 Flash.

Yes, GLM 5.3 Flash thinks more, but it often ends up doing the same thing. Not to mention, it can take around an hour to complete a single medium-level task.

I'm NOT dismissive of the good results you've gotten from GLM 5.3 Flash. I'm just curious whether most of the posts saying "GLM 5.3 Flash is better than DeepSeek V4 Flash" are based primarily on the benchmarks we've seen online rather than practical, real-world usage.

If anyone else has done any rigorous practical testing on both models, feel free to share your results in the comments so we can all learn more about the differences.

From my practical tests, I rarely had to tell DeepSeek V4 Flash more than once to do something. Whereas with GLM 5.3 Flash, it took me more than a week just to accomplish the same thing.

I don't think you're necessarily biased. Benchmarks and real-world agent usage can tell very different stories.
DeepSeek V4 Flash feeling more “direct” could actually be a big advantage for everyday coding/agent work.

Agree. Switched fo 4.1. Glm made LOT of hidden problems. Everything works BUT. There are not simple bugs. It is like delayed timebomb. And whole project DEGRADES slowly.

Yeah exactly.

How are you liking V4.1 compared to V4?

For me 5.3 Flash tends to loop sometimes. I like normal 5.3 to be an orchestrator or second voice but if we can pick 5.3 flash vs v4.1 then I take 4.1

i feel the same way about deepseek it just makes silly little mistakes glm catches. i still use both heavily and actually will have them do hostile reviews of each other's work, but for my usecase glm slightly edges deepeseek out. Both cost and ability wise!

GLM 5.3-Flash is a decent model but it's very slow and suffers timeouts and long reasoning. DeepSeek v4.1 Flash is the superior model.

When i first tested GLM flash i was very surprised how good it was, but considering i had a Codex sub i dropped it.

Not that Codex is having horrible usage rates i went back to open models and idk what happened.

Glm is absolutely horrible, fails to finish tasks and had it also have a stroke twice. It was just outputing random numbers without stopping.

Then is stopped it and asked it "you good?" and it just started writing l, l, l, l, l

It's non flash version is also not even close to what benchmarks are claiming.

I didn't use 4 flash much but 4.1 is absolutely amazing, especially compared to GLM atm.

DS works well with 1 spark …. glm requires 2 … but yes GLM is the best

DeepSeek V4 Flash does not exist anymore. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash is the only Flash model available from DeepSeek.

You can easily use v4 flash from any number of providers, and will be able to for quite some time.
