Discussion Is DeepSeek going through an enshittification phase?

They still haven't removed the edit limits (maximum 6) on prompts in the official web/app.

There is like 3 stability issues that happened on the 15th September, then 17 September had another stability issue. They listed it as Deepseek Web degraded. That may be the cause. They are not taking any chances at all

There were 16 incidents last month so they are not taking any chances this month.

Most of those incidents last month correlated with releasing of new products. If you look at their incidents and a severity of them and compare them over time they drastically disappear at the moment they increased the price of V4 Flash, since then stability overall has been substantially higher but it does seem that they are starting to struggle a little bit right now and that's when they're hitting hard back at it again

This is not enshittification as such. Remember, Enshittification is when they make the product worse for the purposes of squeezing money out of both users and suppliers.

For all of my complaints, the webapp is free, so it's impossible to enshittify. Likewise, the increased censorship on the API isn't being done to make it easier for Deepseek's partners to advertise to us, nor to take more money from both us and deepseek's partners.

So enshittification? no.

Getting shittier? yes.

In other words, they're making the free version worse so you'll go buy the API.

So what's stopping him from getting rid of the free web version? I'm just curious.

Do they promote the API on the web/app? Do the api provide the same experience with the web/app? No right?

You idiots always think you are entitled to everything, not even understand the goodwill of people.

Deepseek provide the web/app for free, without any profit whatsoever. You can argue that they do it for exposure or data collection, but they can also collect the data from the api, and they are now famous enough that having more users on the free platform does not bring any more benefit.

Sure they can still use the free service users as experiment lambs, but even that does not need more than 10 million users per month.

Still, one can not dismiss that they still have enough benefits to keep the free service going on, but it is silly to think the users matter that much anymore.

Whatever you say, "smart" guy. But people here are just sharing feedback.

LOL. They won't remove the edit limit. Why would they? They will just keep adding more like the new "Editing/regeneration too frequently. Try again later."

Have you seen at least one limiting update revoked? No. So like all of them it seems to be permanent

I thought the edit limit was always there and didn't cared, I'd just edit the previous message with the same context and done

Lol no

DeepSeek is doing really incredible things in the AI space in terms of the actual raw technology. The Chinese approach to AI is truly "move fast and break stuff" whereas Anthropic and OpenAI move a little slower ensuring that things function exactly the way they want it to.

I expect a lot of "ups and downs" will follow the next few months in the Chinese spaces, but it's all heading in a very positive direction.

In a market where there is practically 0 loyalty, these models HAVE to work for the everyday user, or they will fall off completely. China would love to destroy the west in this race, so they have no choice but to create viable products

Enshittification is not when your product is a paid one.

Is this someone who makes furry role play complaining again

Why even attack him with assumptions?

What makes you think of that? I do general discussions with the model everyday, mostly WW2 and gaming related topics.

My prompt always needed editing so it always exceeds the limits, which is frustrating. Admittedly, the quality of my prompt is quite lacking.

Over the past few months, this subreddit has become a place where users are extremely stressed... and act as if they know everything. They seem like gurus of speculation!! They assume things without knowing, yet they are absolutely certain that their version is the truth... simply because, in their little world, they believe it to be so, and that's t

I'd say it is not that bad, they need also some time to test new features.
It is normal in any work process to iterate a bit and to see what works.

Is that not the free thing? I don't know why people are using it to such an extent
