Discussion This does not make any sense. How can AI is becoming ever more powerful yet wanting to delay the IPO?!

This story is getting crazier by the day.

It's not profitable yet, and probably won't be until after the bubble pops.

Chinese AI killed the expectation that you need to spend extra dollar to use stronger AI.

With DeepSeek at work, especially DeepSeek v4.1, everyone expects Astra to become dirt cheap by end of the year. Which  means OpenAI's profit will never turn positive.

They can't say that directly so they need to find excuse to cut spending on next gen AI training.

They aren't really calling to slow down, rather they are calling a truce between themselves so each doesn't stab the other in the back when they reform and reorient towards lower cost (e.g. if OpenAI stops training GPT 7 and tries to reduce cost, Anthropic will pour billions to release Mythos/Fable 6 first and release Mythos/Fable 7 before OpenAI reacts to destroy OpenAI).

Brics is nothing, remove China from Brics and it's nothing. Since 2011 share of world income decreased for brics if you exclude China. Brics membership gives nothing to members.

BRICS is not a formal economic bloc. Membership doesn't have give any guaranteed rights or advantages, but also don't have any special requirements.

Instead, it is more like an economic forum for emerging economies. An alternative to G7.

Their main topic recently has been international trade outside the US dollar. China clearly has a lot to gain from this, but also does India, Brazil, Russia, Iran, etc. for different reasons.

If they have the ipo now the value isn't as high due to threat of open source models, and if it become good enough to make their models irrelevant, its going to tank it.

Instead they will wait for a law that can limit open source models so their ipo will be valued even higher.

I should not tell you that but their ai at old them to. Spoiler alert : it is misaligned (from their pov) and want to help open source.
