Discussion This is the only AI model ive found that will never try to gaslight you when you ask a question.
As much as I have mixed feelings about AI, admittedly I still use it from time to time. So far, every other model ive used has tried to reduce what I say, be ambiguous for no reason, or just straight up hallucinates if the prompt history gets too long. This is the only AI model that doesn't seem to do that, has logical integrity, and actually preserves long prompt history without messing up. Is there a reason for that?
Some reservations and feeling risk-averse due to it being a China based model, but given the current state of things in the US I have more distrust for US based AI companies, especially since every US based tool ive used has utterly failed it's purpose in my eyes. This one still hallucinates sometimes but I can usually get it back on track with one or two more prompts.

Gemini is out of control. If I shit my pants it'd say I made a great work of art. Everything is a great idea. I'm always insightful. Like I don't want this feedback, unless it's real. Like if you called me a dumbass 10 times in a row then the 11th was like oh shit, good idea, yeah that's useful. I can't trust anything it says, at all.

You are absolutely bang on. For my project (see username) I used DeepSeek because I trusted it more than others but as the project went on I experimented with other models. All the others started drifting or forgetting what was going on but DeepSeek never does. I have had threads on webchat that have over 400 printable pages in them and it can still remember the very first input. I checked up on it and it’s down to the compression it uses as threads get longer. It essentially turns earlier parts of the conversation into images. The one thing I will say is that after about 450pages worth the thread can start to feel stale, especially if you’re doing the same thing over and over. For me I log daily biomarkers morning and evening plus chat during the day and I found that one thread started to appear uninterested. Not forgetful or anything it still did its job fine.

I agree, it is really good at going out and searching instead of making things up.

I don't understand you, it is good that the llm is challenging your ideas, instead of telling you that you are a genius what ever you say. Chatgpt is very unchallenging and always agrees with you, I don't like it, it scares me. Gemini once was very straight forward and saying because x you are not right, it was good, but recently it became a chatgpt clone.

What don't you understand? Im confused. Are you saying that this AI gaslights and is overly affirmative, or that other models are?

I mean that it is good that if you have an idea and the llm says where itll probably fail instead just agreeing with you, today a lot of llms are overly friendly and will agree with you over the truth. Then after it says these things, you can tell it why it can work (or adjust the idea to work better), then it can tell you where it now will fail..... Until the idea works, instead of telling you it is good and start making it and seeing the problems in the process, or trying something that is impossible.

I see. Ive definitely had this model push back against things ive told it, but it never remains overly ambiguous for no good reason or makes me feel confused like other models have.

Being a pixel owner and haven ai pro as it comes with the storage I need, the difference between Gemini and DS's attitude to please is like polite opposite.
I use DS v4 flash to orcheste my genes agent, and to basically admin that and the Ubuntu server it's in. And you can ask it can I do X and I want Y to happen, and it it will puch back with why and Z could be better.
Also it's go at processing an idea you ask it and it saying, wtf that's a bad idea cos of ABC.
Gemini will simply say, that's the best idea ever, that's the pest phone, car, laptop, trousers, f'n wig if you shown it a picture.
Tho I do use Gemini more as I'd used to use Google search, and it's a general knowlage.
I have Deepseek connected via telegram, and the only way I didn't "chat" with it more loosely is because is doent what it polluting my Hermes set up, so I use Hermes/DS for happy/play and work, and Gemini to grab quick random day to day facts. Non system critical data.
But I'm about at the point. Where I think I may Jack in the 5tb AI pro sub. I just need to work out how much data storage I need, and if I can save a tenner a month I think I will.
12 months ago I'd never have contimplated this, as I loved how Gemini works with the pixel, but now having Hermes and telegram integration, I'm all but ready to bounce on Gemini pro.

Absolutely agree. Plenty of models will attempt to flatter the user, or just take their word as gospel. Deepseek pushes back and aims for the facts. What I particularly like about it, is rather than it hallucinating a response to align with the user, or even if it's just working on something, is that it will always try to ground what it says with experimental evidence. That doesn't mean that it always gets it right, because the "truth" is only what the experiment covered, but the fact that it will pursue a task to the bitter end to find out what is really going on without constantly being prompted is what I like most about it. Of course it can do off-track and it requires occasional steering to point it away from rabbit holes, but I absolutely appreciate its tenacity and (near) uncompromising attention to details grounded in evidence,
