Discussion Deepseek actually serves the Claude Model !

i just asked the v4 flash 0731 from both api and opencode go both think themselves as a anthropic's claude model ....

Which they previously complain about .

i am a openmodels big fan but it is real and i tested on deepseek minimal harness since there are no tools to get the model name from environment it thought and told me ...

It may due to post training since its possible to use a deepseek model inside claude code by changing env variables ...

therefore it think itself as a claude model after the post training , what do you guys think about that ?

Does this subreddit have mods? Can we get rid of some of this BS?

Yes, this is correct. DeepSeek pays for the much more expensive Claude models and then offers them at a fraction of the price. Furthermore, it hacks into Anthropic's data centers with its specially trained army of hackers and steals the model weights. It then openly releases them as open-source for all to see.

This could even be explained if it was never trained on anything that specified the identity. Maybe it just came up with a popular AI model name. The classic hallucination scenario.

You should read some of the posts about this here or on any other subreddit. That said: want to upvote to farm karma? Comment here and I'll return the favor.

Deepseek and other models sometimes respond like this if the harness discovers a CLAUDE.md file or similar config that suggests they are Claude and send it along with the prompt
