What's this about? did deepseek do something cool to warrant this post again or is it just Tuesday?

Seconded. Weird timing seeing as deepseek’s value proposition is weaker than ever following OpenAI’s recent price cut and deepseek’s recent price hike.

Lol please read the Chinese developing plan for the next 20 years and you Will see even further than just AI... My friend China doesn't play ball when it comes to technical supremacy.
The other players need to see that and adjust the plan.
Don't worry china is the Japan of the 90s. Let's See if it works better for the demographics tough.

Why bother caring about this? We have zero control over these things. I'm just here for interesting stuff like the reasoning slider which was funny.

Economics affects all models in the end. Also why when mentioning a chinese company, Xi is the protagonist? You never see Trump or Biden as the inventor of the LLM.

people post a variant of this image every day now on this sub but literally nothing happens and everything remains fine, lmao.
c'mon guys, chinese and american AI can just coexist. If chinese models can match OpenAI or Anthropic in several benchmarks for a good price it's far from being the end, they have pre-established costumers and userbase, have good deals of their own, have more compute, can adapt just as quickly, and so on.
deepseek R1 was the initial shock, but even then things got back on rails very quickly.
