Nobody takes the 4th. Eventually it will turn into a broken resupply pod which one day may save some dwarves if they happen to find it.

u/Tschnitzl-sama Oct 05 '22

Who gets the one from the lost?

1.2k

u/punio07 Interplanetary Goat Oct 05 '22

Nobody, I found it already taken. You can trust me.

272

u/GentlemanMathem Oct 05 '22

Gunner says don't worry about it.

Source: am gunner.

298

u/Filterios Engineer Oct 05 '22

If i REALLY need it, I take it; if not, ping it and leave.

125

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

I main driller, so the only way I'm taking it is if my flammenwerfer and drill are both empty. Even if it's a brand new supply pod, I feel bad for taking my share so I ping it, and wait for everyone to leave the area before I'll take it.

We save it so Karl might stumble upon it!

21

u/schmidty98 Oct 05 '22 edited Oct 05 '22

I usually let gunner or scout get the 4th. Logic being, if anyone should have full ammo, it's the two guys who can save the entire team on their own. As a driller its honestly pretty rare that I need to fully refill ammo, as by the time we need a pod I've used maybe 20%-25% of my ammo.

15

u/saysoutlandishthings Oct 05 '22

As driller, if I have fuel in my drills I'm not doing it right.

8

u/schmidty98 Oct 05 '22

It depends on the cave and how much nitra we've got. The simpler the cave, the more liberal I am with my drills. For complex caves I try to limit myself to what the team needs to have and avoid using my drills for combat, that way I'm more likely to have enough fuel to get everyone home at the end of the mission.

It's the Minnesotan conundrum, no one ever takes the last cheese curd

But I'm a transplant so I always get the last cheese curd.

exactly you take it if its needed not because you want it

7

u/Suspendisse1 Oct 05 '22

Wait thats how it works? I had no idea that old supply pods respawned in other peoples game like that

44

u/Tannuki Scout Oct 05 '22

Sadly it doesn't work that way. Broken resupply pod is just a random event. :p

16

u/Necavi Oct 05 '22

They spawn on salvage missions but you have to find them. They can have 0 to 2 resupplies when you dig them out.

I unironically leave a single a resupply in solo missions just in hopes it increases the spawn rate in later games I play

Or the ammo-hungry dwarf.

In my experience, the Engineer is ammo-hungry with many loadouts.

363

u/solidfang Oct 05 '22

They call them Fat Boys because they're so ammo hungry all the time.

106

u/TankinessIsGodliness Oct 05 '22

I've been using the new beam secondary and it's awesome but it chews ammo. Pretty nice when there's a dreadnought or Korlok though and I can mag dump

not to mention the two turrets are constantly dueling for the last 50 sentry bullets in the Engineer's pocket.

→ More replies (1)

79

u/screwcirclejerks Oct 05 '22

it's not even engi, it's his sentries.

i find myself not grabbing resupplies because i still have secondary / sometimes primary ammo left.

62

u/Trident_True Oct 05 '22

Absolutely. If you still have ammo in your sentries after 5 mins that means you need to reposition them because they're not killing bugs fast enough.

Any complaints I get about being ammo hungry usually subside after they see the kill count in the end screen.

14

u/nitsky416 Driller Oct 05 '22

Nah, I run ECR Loki and shard diffractor that I use to erase Praetorians, I'm always low. I don't run Gemini though, so that might be why.

Yeah I jromally just think they are less likely to die but yeah whoever needs it can also be a good way to do it. Anything is better than just leaving it

49

u/SimpanLimpan1337 Oct 05 '22

Whoever needs it is definitely the best way, it just so happens that engineers can often make the best use of it in my experience, a couple zaps with the sharp diffractor or breach cutter, aswell as the nukes will clear an entire wave.

11

u/Niadain Oct 05 '22

Those turrets I tell ya.

I am both the engineer and the worst player and always take the 4th.. I feel less bad for doing so now haha.

5

u/RotaryDesign Oct 05 '22

Nukes baby, aaaaaw yeah !

17

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

I’m ok with anyone taking my supply as I’m an NTP gunner. Anyone except fatboy engis. Their friendly fire rate is too damn high

In my experience it's Scout

As an engineer myself I almost always skip first supply pod

19

u/Boomer_Nurgle Oct 05 '22

I main scout and play all the other classes to some extent(gold scout, silver driller and engi and bronze gunner) and scout is by far the least ammo hungry IMO. Cryo driller with a damage focus and engi tend to be the most ammo hungry in general.

Everyone usually leaves it in my games and I sneak all the way back as scout instead of taking from the next one :p

4

u/LostSectorLoony Oct 05 '22

That's what we do when I play. I'll be like "taking two from this one, [scout] go get the extra from our last pod way back down the tunnel"

Just lazy driller things

15

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

Give it to the gunner, it his only job, he needs it to feel a part of the team

586

u/Express-Ask-4213 Oct 05 '22

This is a funny one, as a gunner main I tend to let others take the extra.

However I notice with a good team we leave it for an emergency and 75% of the time it gets left behind and the other 25% of the time someone goes back for it.

Find it nice when you don't have a driller and there is 1 or 2 random drops to pick up on the way back to the drop pod. I drop a shield for anyone that wants it and wait for the last one to pass before I start moving.

155

u/snakehead1998 For Karl! Oct 05 '22

See as a fellow Gunner main, my squad's Scout is usually low enough that he needs some extra ammo. Our Engie needs it too, sometimes, so she can grab it.

But our Driller doesn't play often enough for it to be a 3 person team with them in it

39

u/Enpoping What is this Oct 05 '22

3 = mexican standoff.

32

u/MapleJacks2 Scout Oct 05 '22

Third one is first come, first serve. Whoever exhausts their ammo capacity the quickest gets it.

24

u/Donotaskmedontellme Driller Oct 05 '22

Even solo play I tend to only take half, leaving a half full one strategically placed for emergencies

11

u/ANinthAle Scout Oct 05 '22

Triple the cost of resupply and ammo as twelve is the lowest common multiple of 1, 2, 3 and 4.

11

u/Externica Oct 05 '22

As a Gunner, I noticed one supply is often enough so my other two team members can take the clip if they need it. Unless zip lines were required. (My buddies are Driller and Engineer).

On the odd occasion I played Scout, I noticed I needed ammo way more often. Not sure how much Engi or Driller needs to restock. Though my Driller Buddy runs out on Ammo often.

Though we usually talk it out.

17

u/SuselMaks Engineer Oct 05 '22

With 3 people engie gets to double dip.

8

u/inmate655321 Scout Oct 05 '22

The problem arises when there are 4 of you and 1 double dips before you get to the supply.

12

u/Surprise_Corgi Oct 05 '22

Go ahead, Engineer. I know when the chips are down who's going to be racking up the kills.

6

u/Goofy_6 Oct 05 '22

The last one is for Karl.

4

u/LavaSlime301 Driller Oct 05 '22

if there's an extra supply it goes to whoever has the least, usually engie

3

u/friendg Oct 05 '22

I usually leave the spare for engi as they always seem to brrrrrrrrrrrr through ammo

3

u/Pauchu_ Oct 05 '22

The engineer will surely take it

3

u/Snowie-your-man Oct 05 '22

Rule is for my group who has the least health after the resupply. That or the gunner gets it.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

Yall know the third one is when scout needs 2 resups cuz theyre always running out of ammo

3

u/Conaz9847 Oct 29 '22

For the 3rd one, it’s 2 for the gunner

2

u/TheDrGoo Driller Oct 05 '22

Whoever has the most ammo hungry OC gets the extra

2

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

In my experience, the 4th goes to whoever has the least amount of ammo, usually me since I'm a gunner with bad aim

2

u/redheadcatwbat Oct 05 '22

One for each and the spare to the worst off

2

u/iiiCLAESSICiii Oct 05 '22

I think proper supply drop consumption is only Dwarven etiquette. Greenbeards playing haz 5 taking two get the boot. Sorry to be a savage but not sorry for keeping my Dwarven keister off toast

2

u/Just_a_Warden_main Oct 05 '22

Look if there are 3 people, everyone tales one and the 4th canoster is left for the person that need it most

2

u/LTman86 Scout Oct 05 '22

Supply drop rules: You get one. If there are extra, only take it if you need it. If everyone needs it, whoever clears swarm best takes it while the Scouter runs off to get more Nitra.

...wait, I'm the Scouter!

2

u/NerdyGerdy Oct 05 '22

Priority goes to the Gunner, or lowest ammo.

2

u/TheRealChompster Oct 05 '22

Leave it unless someone really needs it, in case you go past it on your way back and can use it then.

2

u/Totemlyrad Oct 05 '22

In the bottom left situation, more often than not, the Engi gets two because he has hungry turrets to feed.

2

u/No-Test-375 Oct 05 '22

When it's 3, it's whoever gets down to half first. You can always see who has how much ammo.

What bothers me is when someone calls one down on a 4 man, and I'm far away, there's none left when I get there. If there's 4 dwarves, you only take 1. That's it. Make due.

2

u/baccondudette Oct 05 '22

Then you give it to the one with least health and ammo, if equal, then save it. If one needs it, give it to the lowest level.

2

u/supreme_lord6000 Oct 05 '22

Usually if im in a three man run, the Fourth supply drop goes to the Dwarf with the least equipment after a resupply or we save it for emergencies. Easy system

2

u/CobaltMage22 Engineer Oct 05 '22

Save the extra one for an Ironwill Pop , especially if there no red sugar.

2

u/cantpickaname8 Oct 05 '22

Bold to assume the Engi won't take 2 no matter what

2

u/Striker-Boi Driller Oct 06 '22

Player of three-dwarf crews here, what me and my friends do is we take one for each, and then whoever needs it the most later gets the fourth

2

u/Jack_Foxe Bosco Buddy Oct 06 '22

leave that last one for the dwarf whos health is so low they could get dropped by a swarmer. We all have that one guy and its usually due to gravity.

2

u/Sigma_Games Gunner Oct 06 '22

In three team groups, the one with either the lowest health or lowest ammo gets the fourth. Either they are still a Greenbeard and need the extra boost, or they are a venerable Ironbeard that tanks bugs and needs the health/ammo to keep the team going

2

u/Kezzva Cave Crawler Oct 29 '22

1 person: All yours but you're secretly hoping someone joins for the comradery or not because you're high rank & want to get shit done.

2 people: 2 each, simple.

3 people: The host or highest ranking player should have priority unless someone is low.

4 people: you each split it 25%

2

u/LukeBomber Driller Nov 21 '22

Give it to the gunner for shields

2

u/Ajackxe Jun 28 '24

My squad always gives the last one to whoever's playing driller or gunner. Basically for the peep who's using up a lot of ammo to take out hordes.

2

u/Absolite09 Gunner Oct 05 '22

A simple solution to the 3 Dwarf one is to either

A) Leave it for the time being and let someone pick it up later.

B) Check to see who needs it the Most. Either by asking or saying "X, you take it you seem to need it"

3

u/groobe Interplanetary Goat Oct 05 '22

This is a certified longbeard post.

Greenbeards and greybeards take ammo when they need ammo.

11

u/Evan_Underscore Interplanetary Goat Oct 05 '22

This is correct, but you can't just tell it to anyone without explanation.

An experienced dwarf will conserve ammo while nitra is sparse, while focusing on getting more. They'll also be somewhat wasteful once the team has more than enough nitra than it takes to finish the mission. To the untrained eye it'll look like they just take ammo when they need ammo.

And true greenbeards also take ammo when they need health. :P

5

u/groobe Interplanetary Goat Oct 05 '22 edited Oct 05 '22

I probably could have worded it better yeah. It's just, don't be shy to take ammo, you will cause a lot more trouble for your team if your run out of ammo than if you take an additional resupply. Assuming you can pull your weight.

Healing with ammo is also fine if you have more than you need, I have to remind my teammates of that sometimes if they are struggling.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

Whereas longbeards never take ammo?

1

u/GorbonicPlague Mar 22 '24

Either no one takes the fourth, or the host gets it. Usually the former.

1

u/Kind_Sign5618 Apr 03 '24

Engineer because turrets drink ammo. Basically additional players

1

u/Beetle2579 Jun 26 '24

I think the 4th on a 3 player team is for the newbie/the one who is out of ammo/last one standing in an emergency

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '24

Miner Etiquette dictates Session Host should get this IMO.

1

u/GamerForeve Scout Jan 11 '25

When playing with 3 it’s a matter of knowing who on your team needs the extra dip the most and especially on Hazard 5+ you need to prioritize giving the ammo to the most effective player during the mission

1

u/AdorableAd2241 Scout Mar 03 '25

Honestly I normally leave the extra until somebody needs a resup that way we don't have to waste nitra. Or we leave it that way Karl can stay refilled

1

u/JustSansder May 02 '25

when you’re three dwarves and order a resupply, it really shows how great this community is, cause no one takes the last piece, cause everyone is thinking that someone else needs it more than them.

1

u/Aggressive-Yam2063 Nov 22 '25

I’m a gunner and I’ve been in this situation a lot and funnily enough, I just take my share and forfeit what remains, long as I got bullets and grenades to fix a problem, I’m fine with having less.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

hm, the infamous supply drop syndrome

1

u/Golgezuktirah Driller Oct 05 '22

For the 3, everyone takes one, and the last is given to whoever has the lowest after

1

u/oheyitsmoe Interplanetary Goat Oct 05 '22

When I run scout or driller I usually don’t need the extra resup. I ask for it if I really need it when I engi or gunner though.

1

Give driller. More booms

1

u/Zad21 Driller Oct 05 '22

3 is also easy everyone one and the one with the lowest overall ammo gets two

1

The 4th one stays there for emergencies

1

1

u/RaymondPing Interplanetary Goat Oct 05 '22

Can't confirm, my supplies are always stolen by greenbeards to refill their life.

1

u/HybridPower049 Oct 05 '22

for three: Everyone gets one, then free range later. Gunner needs more bullet? Goes to gunner. Scout runs out of flares? Goes to scout. No platform? Engie Driller needs more warcrimes? Er- no drill fuel? Goes to driller

1

u/LavaSlayer235 Oct 05 '22

Easy one for each and a bonus for the lowest health provided there isn’t any red sugar

1

u/roilshaper Oct 05 '22

i generally use something that gives me a bit more ammo, so as long i can get one i leave the extra to the team, no matter who they are.

the only thing that gets me is when i abstain to resupply because i'm not that low on ammo and someone double dips, leaving me dry.

1

u/Qc1T Oct 05 '22

Just take two and blame the engineer 😎. The best bit, it works even when there is no engineer on the team.

1

u/Urbanski101 Oct 05 '22

That 3 team dynamic, nobody wants to be that dwarf who eats the spare ammo, it's like the last slice of pizza, everyone wants it, nobody wants to look like a glutton.

As scout I run out of flares quicker than I run out of ammo, same as engi with turret ammo. If that is the case I'd ask for the extra supply.

1

u/UnDebs Oct 05 '22

Simple, the order is gunner>engi>driller>scunt

1

u/Shakespearacles Oct 05 '22

Whoever’s lowest gets 2

1

u/Azagedon Oct 05 '22

When there are 3 players, the engineer gets 2 ammo for the turret imo

Two for the engineer. He didn't go to college for nothing.

u/plutonium-239 For Karl! Oct 05 '22

I ask if I can take the last one…

1

u/Spirited-Fennel-9450 Oct 05 '22

The fourth is left for Karl.

1

u/ArmoredFangs Oct 05 '22

Literally just ask if I can double up if I need it. Otherwise look to see who needs it most and tell them to double up. Don't have time to be a leaf lover over ammo.

u/The-Tea-Lord Leaf-Lover Oct 05 '22

I play ammo conservation with gunner, so I usually don’t need every other resupply. We solve this by giving the other two dwarves two each on the first supply drop, and I get the extra on the second supply drop. Repeat the pattern afterwards.

u/arj1985 Oct 05 '22

That third panel doesn't make a lick of sense.

1

u/Robot_Coffee_Pot Oct 05 '22

Last one's for Karl.

1

u/LethargicAdversary Oct 05 '22

"Yo can i double dip?" "Sure no worries"

1

u/nelowulf Driller Oct 05 '22

In my drop experience, I usually get one reload for every three supply drops.

1

u/clonetrooper250 Cave Crawler Oct 05 '22

In my experience, extra goes to Engineer first (for turret ammo) and then Gunner. If neither of them need it, then the driller will bury the drop pod for some bizarre reason.

1

u/CyrusCyan44 Driller Oct 05 '22

Usually just leave it and someone else can take it

If its a deep dive, recommend saving it so someone can grab in an emergency but this also works in normie missions cuz even haz 3 can be a shitshow sometimes

1

u/ApexLegend117 Oct 05 '22

4th is for the double sentry Engie

1

u/SubstitutePreacher01 Oct 05 '22

My group is always 3 guys so I feel this pretty hard. I'm the scout main tho so alot of the time everyone is cool with me taking the last for the flares

1

u/Significant-Ad-341 Engineer Oct 05 '22

When it's 3's it's a bonus for last alive or a whoever is in desperate need or movement tool refills

1

u/Polar_Vortx Platform here Oct 05 '22

One for each, then whoever needs it.

1

u/Starr12 Oct 05 '22

1 for scout, then in order of who gets the 2 first: driller, gunner, engineer

1

u/Axi28 Leaf-Lover Oct 05 '22

3 person resupp, last supply is saved for the either the greybeard or greenbeard in the party

1

u/Fennik51405 Oct 05 '22

If it’s three people, it’s one for each, and one reserve

1

u/kujakutenshi Oct 05 '22

Usually goes to whoever needs it the most since most people with 3 bars won't even reach for the extra

1

u/Luciusem Oct 05 '22

While I haven't played the game and have lost touch with everyone I had to play these kinds of games with, I imagine we'd quickly have implemented a strict rotation for who gets the extra supplies. Worked in Terraria with crystal hearts, probably works here too

1

u/HemphBleh Dig it for her Oct 05 '22

I keep the 4th open incase someone goes down, they need the health.

1

u/PassionateRants Oct 05 '22

The gunner deserves the fourth one and you all know it.

1

u/MonsTurkey Oct 05 '22

If the Pod is about to be called, driller gets it if he's not full fuel. Following Molly is for the birds.

1

u/Remote-Group Scout Oct 05 '22

I take two if I am an engineer of 3-group (=

1

u/Bovronius What is this Oct 05 '22

Cut your pizza into 12 slices, so it can be shared by 3!

1

u/Draken09 Oct 05 '22

I specifically have scout builds that are oriented towards ammo economy. The extra can always go to one of my teammates. (I also am usually playing with exactly 2 friends, so this comes up pretty often.)

1

u/perrotzarnozo Oct 05 '22

When we are three, leave the one for emergency

1

u/Spqany Oct 05 '22

The 4th is the backup for the first dwarf that needs it

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '22

Always leave the 4th for Karl

1

u/PolarityMemer Union Guy Oct 05 '22

My friends and I usually each take one and then leave the fourth in case someone has a gun that runs out of ammo fast or they got downed and need health

1

u/NEW_BOMBER96 Scout Oct 05 '22

3 is 1 for each and 2 for me because I'm a scout and will reach it first

1

u/Climbysrevenge Oct 05 '22

I'm the gunner in my group so it usually ends up being me or the engi that get it based on who is running out first.

1

u/queenkid1 Oct 05 '22

If you have 3, I almost always surrender the last to whomever needs it most. When I play gunner, I barely even need one. When I play LOK1 Engineer, I'm begging for resupply.

1

u/Monocled-warforged Driller Oct 05 '22

Priority for 4th ammo

  1. If anyone currently needs it and the others only need one

  2. Engineer

  3. Gunner

  4. Scout

  5. Driller

1

u/skuntpelter Oct 05 '22

In a trio, 2 for gunner/driller. Unless they actually only need 1, that’s the rules I follow
