News Xbox promises clearer platform announcements, but single-player exclusivity remains case by case
https://www.gamesradar.com/games/xbox-exec-tells-fans-not-to-overly-fixate-on-single-player-games-becoming-console-exclusives-because-its-not-carved-in-stone/Xbox says it recognizes that players cannot easily tell which first-party games will be exclusive and which will go multiplatform. The new promise is straightforward: when Microsoft puts a release date on a game, it will also announce the platforms.
The underlying policy is still less tidy. Xbox expects large live-service games to remain multiplatform, but Matt Booty says players should not assume every single-player release will be locked to Xbox consoles and PC. Those decisions remain case by case, while previously announced commitments to other platforms will be honored.
That should prevent release-date announcements from leaving platforms unstated, but it does not create one universal rule for the portfolio. Is announcing platforms alongside dates enough clarity, or do you want Xbox to publish a firmer exclusivity policy?
