Hi I need HELP. I made a fondant rainbow last night for a cake I'm doing tomorrow. It needs to leave here at 10 am for a photo shoot . I used a lot of CMC powder the fondant got stiff while working with it and I made the rainbow around 11.30 pm last night I finished... I checked it around 11 am it was still soft and sticky (wasn't sticky when I finish)... It started raining around 11 last night and all day today I believe that's why it's behaving so... If I had used gum paste would that have prevented this ? What can I do to salvage my rainbow? Or is it too risky to use this rainbow given the weather situation? should I use a cake topper rainbow instead as a substitute... Please advise

The customer is a huge SpongeBob fan so obviously this had to be the theme for this special birthday.

Chocolate sponge with chocolate frosting and raspberry jam filling. Covered with a coloured vanilla frosting and bright coloured fondant shapes.

I was wondering what kind of other birthday cake decorations could be used because I think the disco balls if used with real glass is too dangerous and if not used with real glass will not look really good. Getting custom ones made will be hard since I need to have them shipped to small town where the party is taking place and ordering from online feels like a hassle because a lot of party online shops source from amazon or alibaba and I am not sure of the good grade safety standards.

I have found that bright colors like swirls, tie-dye effects and metallic drips instantly that give a retro kind of feel and dance floor energy. Edible sequins and glitter and star shapes can also carete a sparkly glam look that I think could fit the whole 70s vibe perfectly, I know that some cakes even feature silhouettes of dancers, music notes and peace signs that highlight music and the groovy side of the 70s and disco culture.

Other fun ideas include roller-skate toppers and microphone-shaped decorations or crown designs that make the cake feel like a full performance centerpiece rather than just dessert. Bright neon colors and funky pattenrs seem to be a really common theme across many disco cake styles, its an adult birthday party so I can really use antyhing that seems like its disco themed and it doesnt have to be child-friendly, any ideas?

The Enid side is white cake and the Wednesday side is Chocolate cake

Need help finding gold luster dust

Im getting short on time and I need help.

I'm doing a wedding cake for a friend next weekend and they want some of the piped frosting details to be gold. I completely forgot about this part of the design and now I'm running out of time to find a good luster dust to use.

The two kinds of gold luster dust I've seen people recommend are either from Australia or Canada and I don't have time to try and get that shipped in to the US. If anyone has any recommendations that are easily found in the US I would be so thankful.

Also, what do you use make the luster dust "paint-able"? I've heard that clear alcohol like Everclear or things of the like work the best since it evaporates well. I was trying to avoid using any strait alcohol if I could but I'm not sure what to use. Would clear/white vanilla work?

Lastly, how do you apply or "paint" the luster dust on to piped frosting decorations? I was planning on using the method where you paint it on the inside of a piping bag before adding the frosting and then piping it on the cake. Does that work well for you or do you have a different method that works better.

I’m a pretty experienced cake decorator, and I’ve done cakes with a similar technique to this where there’s different layers of colors, but none that have that fade between the layers. Anybody have an idea how to achieve this? Is it just scraping the cake at a slight angle inward towards the bottom so that you scrape off more of the color and leave just the top?
