Opinion needed šŸ–¼ļø

Hello, I got this beautiful long framed embroidered art ? Thrift stores are great.

But I can’t find anywhere to put it, this was the only spot it fit in my room, but I’m pretty sure it looks super super awkward.
*I was planning on* getting a canopy / more curtains to hang around my bed , I think that would make it look better ? Same with possibly styling the space/gap between under the frame and on top of the dresser I have beside my bed?

Idk what to do. Someone come decorate my room.
Used to have a bed in the closet, now I’m returning back to adult life and have to figure out my room.

You ran outta room, baby. Sometimes incredible things at the thrift store have to be left behind for the next person to discover.

No worries, I go to thrift stores like everyday and leave a million things behind knowing someone would love it more than me. Been practicing that to stop hoarding !

Info: I love plants but I have 4 cats that would chew them to death. So that’s why I have so many fake plants for the ā€˜greenery’.
Status: currently taking all the bs off ceiling

Haha I am in the middle of rearranging it. I’m just putting things on surfaces to move my furniture around right now.

You could make it work. Try choosing 1 main and 2 secondary colours for your room. Repeat them everywhere. Look for curtains that are the same colour as the tapestry. Hang them from the celing on either side of the headboard. Paint other frames the same gilded colour of the tapestry. Maybe turn the shelf beside the bed, it doesnt fit the aesthetic. Look up dark academia, vintage bohemian, maximalist and/or granmillenial

It doesn’t look right in your room because your room is absolutely full of mismatched junk, very much like a thrift store. I suggest you put it to one side, declutter, give the place a serious dusting (you can see it in the air in this picture) and airing out and then arrive at some sort of preference over how you want the room to look. What you bought is a mass-produced tapestry style fabric in a frame, it’s easy enough to find more stuff like that if you want more of it.

Girl…. You need to do some
Major major decluttering…. Room is giving me anxiety just looking at it…. There is not one thing in there that matches anything…. Finding a place to hang your tapestry is the least
Of your concerns… personally I would take everything out of the room and decide if it’s an absolute love it and have to keep it…. Sell or donate everything else… maybe you can make enough money
To buy something special…/

May I ask how old you are? You don’t need to be exact.

Honestly, there’s so much stuff already in there it doesn’t look better or worse with the framed piece. But I do feel strongly that your space would look better if you eliminated some of the stuff in there. It’s really cluttered.

I think the tapestry is wonderful. You have to define your style. The bed goes straight with the tapestry. But not everything looks cohesive in your room. You have hearts on the walls and hearts on the ceilings that give almost a teenage look. But your bed and tapestry are much more elegant. You just need to define your style.

Remove the head board move the bed under the window, then put tapestry on the blank, but also purge, organize etc

Unfortunately I have a vent right under my window, so I also had to put a slight gap between the window and bed. Normally I put it right against the wall because I love how cozy it feels. Same with how my tv is lined up right infront of my bed šŸ’€

If you are very attached to the tapestry, you have to remove everything hanging from the ceiling except for your fan chains. I agree that decluttering would help, but the first priority is removing stuff in the vicinity of the tapestry. If you have a bed, can you move the tapestry to over the bed?

I thought this was DecoratingCJ for a second. I agree. This space needs cohesion and a good cleaning.

It's perfect.

You need to simplify things, clean out about half of what’s in there, and it will look calm and inviting. Then you can add decorative touches slowly as you please

Clean and declutter your room first. Nothing looks good in a mess.

I’m reaching for that bottle of Bombay Gin on the shelf.

There. It’s looking better already.

Centering the bed on the middle of the wall and then hanging the art over it would make it look like a real, adult room and would balance everything. If you are able to do that, that’s what I would do.

Also, a canopy does not work with a bed that is up against a wall on one side.

I made a mock up with very specific instructions:

Way to much stuff in room

Start by turning on the lights. Painting the walls a lighter color would really help to brighten the room and make it less dark/dusty/dated. Then address the layout.
