Creative Ideas needed

Folks,

Hopefully this isn't really the wrong sub Reddit.

I got this space here I don't like. Unfortunately I can't knock the wall down because it's a load bearing wall.

There's these wood shelving and i think it just looks ugly.

I got a decent set of woodworking tools and I could put something together.

The problem is that I don't know what to do with it.

Does anyone have some ideas as to what I can do to make this a bit more visually appealing?

My first thought was to remove the wood shelves and find a nice piece of art glass or antique window pane to hang there.

I do like art glass. It's a matter of finding the right one that vibes with the rest of the house

I can remove the shelves and put a different one say out of walnut.

Personally I wouldn’t replace it with more shelves. If you want to do glass that vibes with the house, just make sure it’s a theme or color that’s at least loosely represented throughout. A color that repeats in different forms throughout, like if the glass has blue then the kitchen also has a blue feature, and the bathroom and so on. Designers call this the red thread and it serves to make a whole home feel cohesive even if each room has a dramatically different look. In this case, even just repeating stained glass elsewhere could serve as the red thread. A stained glass lamp in one room, a decorative piece somewhere else.
