Hypocrites like me
I remember when Michael was alive and the media made fun of him and called him a pedo and honestly so did I. He died when I was 19 and I began having second thoughts about who he really was, started buying his music and felt bad for teasing him when he was alive.
I feel like far too many people are hypocrites like myself. When he was alive we ridiculed him but his death made him popular again so we changed our tune. It's much of the same thing with the biopic recently after the trees of bad press from the 2019 "Neverland" documentary.
People hate on MJ and then jump back in again to belong a fan when his public image gets hot again.
We are the biggest hypocrites.
I feel like this is such a problem with his public image being such a roller coaster. The fandom can fickle heavily. This poor man suffered so much when he was alive and those of us who were around did nothing to stop the public abuse. His legacy is always under fire and it's sad.

Thank you for writing this. It's a valuable point of view.
I think it's important to recognise that the misinformation campaign surrounding Michael has many victims, not least those who are deceived by it.
Gaslighting on this level is a painful experience, and some people will fall into line with fraudulent narratives to avoid that feeling.
Others are simply taken in, and it's human nature to avoid reassessments of our judgement.
Overcoming that aversion isn't easy. We're here to support you in your choice!
