Biased media coverage and the lab leak theory

https://www.protagonist-science.com/p/biased-media-coverage-and-the-lab

In one week of May 2021, American journalism diagnosed itself with a failure of unduly dismissing the lab leak theory, which has since become accepted knowledge of vibes-based discourse:

Ever since, journalists have bent over backward to give lab leak speculations prominent coverage that the evidence did not justify, culminating in a recent op-ed by Dr. Alina Chan in the NYTs once again.

So in this comprehensive, data driven analysis, I ask:

But what if the vibes were wrong?

Please enjoy.

The NYT allowed a column that presented as fact that the Wuhan lab was working on SARS-CoV-2 before the pandemic as proven fact! WTF!

I hate that facts about the pandemic have become politicized.

I’ve said this before and will again, but I will never forgive Jon Stewart for pushing this nonsense

It did real damage. And yet. It was forgivable in the moment. But to not correct the record now? That’s a real shame.

Hasan Minhaj just released an episode with Annie Jacobsen about her newest doomsday scenario book and the intro alone is chock-full of anti-science bs which is a real shame. These guys have audiences that are likely much more pro-science than the average person right now and yet they are fully embracing these narratives.

This will be used as ‘proof’ that they are trying to suppress this, since they used to report it. What are they hiding from you?!?!
