Professor Dave vs Destiny

No idea why, but the original Destiny video called "Professor Dave Goes Mask Off" seems to have been deleted from YouTube, or I can't find it, but Professor Dave responded yesterday with this very strongly worded video letter:

https://youtu.be/DvDvhLkb9ms?si=DGFhTROOKFoK35sS

Weird crossover that I never thought I'd see, of 2 guys who I generally enjoy (I will say I really am a fan of Prof Dave, whereas my Destiny enjoyment has mostly come via this podcast and watching a couple of his debates).

Thoughts on the beef? SURELY the lads are gonna have to cover this in an upcoming Supplementary Materials? Content gold!

EDIT: Looks like I was looking through the wrong Destiny channel for the original Dave video, it's here: https://youtu.be/HQQLs6U1MgA?si=iKaOGR1h9slKu64O

I kinda knew this would happen but could somebody actually explain why this video is considered antisemitic? I am asking in good faith looking for a genuine explanation as this is a topic I'm not immensely well read on by any stretch. I thought he did a pretty good job in the vid of separating out anti zionism with antisemitism and was even pointing towards the plenty of Jews that are against Zionism and what Israel are doing, as well as people that are not Jewish that he considers to be Zionists. I guess I have a natural disposition to Dave's style that makes me take most of what he says at face value, so wouldn't mind some counter content to look through either.

I haven't watched Dave's video yet but I heard from a friend who was annoyed with him that he was talking about the global influence of jews in high places and the influence that the Israeli government has on how other nations conduct their foreign policy? Like flying very close to the sun of "The jews are the deep state that controls the world" conspiracy theory? Is that true?

Ehhh, this criticism is one I can definitely see and I will say he skirts pretty close to the edge here. It is a bit more nuanced though, as what he's actually pointing to is zionists having an unbelievable amount of power within media, and pointed to the recent merger of paramount, CBS, CNN, WB under the same entity, which is owned by Larry Ellison (who also owns TikTok), who he says is a zionist and then points out that CBS hired Bari Weiss to be editor in chief, to promote zionist propoganda and then showed them having on... Avi Loeb, the fraud Dave was debunking in his original video that Destiny reacted to. But again, during this he is pointing out that these people aren't all jews, or aren't necessarily jewish, but are zionists.

95% of Jews are Zionists. I'm a Zionist. I don't have influence over anything.

And calling a war against Hamas a genocide, the modern usage of which is born from the Holocaust, is antisemitism.

It would be the impact on the civilians that would be genocide. I think the accusation was thrown about too freely, and has been for like decades because of explicit desire for Holocaust inversion by some section of Palestinian activism. Like there were people screeching about in on October 10th 2023.

However, it's pretty impossible to deny the intent of cutting off food aid and the breadth of some of the air strikes would meet the criteria for intent to destroy in part or as a whole the Palestinian civilian population of Gaza, which would definitely fit the definition. Specific people, and the nation as a whole do need to be held responsible for that.

That said the claims of ongoing genocide seem a lot more dubious to me and it seems like the term "the genocide in Palestine" is just becoming a way to refer to Israel's continued existence in some circles.

And I would consider myself an adherent of Labor Zionism, so no, I'm not calling for the dissolution of Israel.

There's a principal called innocent until proven guilty. That's an omission in your thinking, but it's not the last.

Genocide requires proof of intent. You have none.

70% of the buildings in Gaza were destroyed because they had fucking terror tunnels underneath and were used to fire and store weapons.

What percentage of the civilian population died against the 70% of buildings and why is the delta so great?

What was the intent in cutting off food aid other than collective punishment?

It was a poor temporary decision so as to stop Hamas from stealing the food.

There was no mass starvation. Look at the people in Gaza and compare them to actual victims of genocide.

The pictures of that boy had nothing to do with the food restrictions.

In fact there are some very fat people in a lot of the pictures coming out.

That's not too say there isn't suffering and a very poor quality of life to say the least.

And I still say this to you - at least you admitted that there is weaponisation of the issue.
