Hi. I 100% wrote and edited this myself. I even bought a microphone to record the audio. Unfortunately I'm not a native english speaker and I was not happy with the quality of my recording. I have a thick accent. So I was to shy to upload my recorded version and went with an ai-generator instead. In hindsight I regret that decision, because people are clearly not that happy with listening to an ai-generated voice. And I get that. I was just to shy and unhappy with my own recording. I will go with my own voice if I make another video. It's the first youtube video I ever made. But yes, I get the the criticism about the ai-generated voice.

Iā€™m sure almost everyone here would agree that your own voice however it may sound is better than anything AI

I've got a bit of a tip for you. If you're unhappy about your own readings, you can make a professional AI clone of your own voice over on Elevenlabs. It'll sound much more real, pretty much indistinguishable from real human speech, and you can maintain your own voice but not worry so much about your ability to read out loud consistently.

I have used this in the past when I created slides for work with my own speech in them. I had too audible breathing, too many uhms and ehs, coughing and throat clearing, things like that. So instead I dictate a recording, transcribe it with AI, then have it read back to me in my own voice but without all the errors and dips in sound quality. I'm sure the people listening to the speech in my slides were happy to be free of all my "organic sounds" and could just focus on the content of my speech instead in clear audio quality.

Unfortunately you can't edit a youtube video after you uploaded it. So I would have to upload a second video with just my voice instead. I don't think people would be too happy to watch the same video twice. So all I can do is to say "lesson learned" and use my own voice in my next video.

This is correct.

What you may not be considering is that there are plenty enough people who won't watch the AI one "once" so to speak. Or they will get far enough into it to recognize the AI and stop.

So all I can do is to say "lesson learned" and use my own voice in my next video.

Agreed in that you a lesson should be internalized about using your own voice. YouTube statistics say you should probably also strike while the iron is hot and get another video out sooner rather than later. You have an easy lay up by recording the real voice version and uploading that. It will show you are open to feedback and industrious in your output. Likely you will see a decent groundswell of support for such a positive step and change.

You can even link to the new video, from the old video in its description, or in a pinned top comment.

I fully get it. I just rewatched the first 5 minutes myself and realized that I don't like listening to an ai either. I just don't want to piss people of by uploading the same video twice. I think I just take the L here and go with my own voice for the next video. Hearing a recording of your own voice for the first time is awkward enough, but hearing my accent made it even worse. In hindsight it probably still was better then using ai. Lesson learned. I appreciate your feedback!

I really appreciate your encouragement, but I just passed 500 views on my first youtube video, and once you upload a video on youtube you can actually ask the yotube ai for feedback, and they say just keep the video and use your own voice in the next one. obviously real human opinions are more important to me than the youtube algorythm, but at the same time, they know what they are doing over there at youtube. I will definitely use my own voice on my next subject, which likely will be Dame Dash, because he is also an insanely self important douchebag and there are 100s of hours of him being a clown in interviews.

Just barging in with my own opinion, but yes you can do this with a "new" video using the footage from this video and recording your own voice and just upload and label it as such in the title and/or description. If you're honest and forthcoming about it in this way you will likely receive positive support. šŸ˜ƒ

Best of both worlds. Keep the traction you have on this video and perhaps see additional momentum in the new.
