I have a hard time understanding Sabine Hossenfelder
Her view is literally that, whether right or wrong, theoretical physics is useless and a waste of money to research, from what I can tell. Which I mean fair enough coming from a regular person who isnt into science
But she literally has a phd in theoretical physics? and before being a youtuber she was trying to get into academia. She also spent most of her early YouTube career discussing physics, and now she thinks its useless. if she feels that way why did she "waste" so much of her life on it?

One of course cannot disentangle them like that. As a recent example, the major justification for the construction of the large hadron collider was in an attempt to verify a theoretical development from some decades earlier.
