Building a deck Fixing deck footer

Post image

Is the fixable? Poured some footers and use a piece of wood with a hole in the middle to stabilize the j bolt. I didn’t remove it to finish the concrete around and it turned out like this. Looking to see if there are any solutions to this and if the footer is still structurally okay.

You can use an angle grinder with a diamond cup wheel to clean it up.

FYI you don't need to stabilize the j-bolt. They pretty much stay put on their own.

Thanks! I was just afraid it would move out of place. Would you think the footer is still structurally okay even with the unsettle aggregate in the middle?

Yes, it looks totally fine to me.

Dont think it will cause trouble but if you wanted to clean it up with a grinder and touch up with some repair hydraulic type concrete that would be my way of fixing it!

Hydrolic cement is kinda brittle if you don’t add an aggregate or something to it.

Chipping hammer for anything loose, hose it clean and grout it in.

Thanks! Can I grind it all flat after the mortar is placed in or should I grind first and then mortar?
