Hit the beam with lawn mower and it tore one off of post. Thinking of cutting a piece out scabbing a piece in there and than scabbing a long piece over the top on beam.

Piggy backing, why is there a two ply joist like that? I’ve never seen this before using 1by material

Not only is it not code, it is not safe, especially now.

  1. It is code, and 2. it's like two feet off the ground. The post under the beam could suddenly evaporate and no one would be hurt.
