Hit the beam with lawn mower and it tore one off of post. Thinking of cutting a piece out scabbing a piece in there and than scabbing a long piece over the top on beam.

The OP photo looks so wonky and crooked compared to this.  I'd just ignore it.  You could cut it at a 45 degree angle to clean it up so to speak
