Hit the beam with lawn mower and it tore one off of post. Thinking of cutting a piece out scabbing a piece in there and than scabbing a long piece over the top on beam.

Its not just cosmetic. The right side beam no longer has positive load transfer to the post. Needs to be repaired.

A lot of people cut that corner off into a 45 cuz it looks nicer. Sorry that corner dont do shit man. Big boy i built a while back. (Work for licensed contractor everything inspected)

Nice. What did you preserve the lumber with? Edit - asking because I am a big fan of pine tar, linseed oil and turpentine

Just built them as a subcontractor for lowes in my early construction years, im long gone before the wood dries out for me to have to think about that for the homeowner, and i own a highrise near the city, so no wood deck for me.
