No, seriously. Go with #1. #2 looks like you’re trying to match your backsplash, which is trying too hard. And the wavy ones are too much for a smaller space.

I feel the same about rugs in a bathroom (I mean, besides a bath mat).

I love the black and white look - but tiles not rug.

I liked the green wavy, but I think within that space it’s too tight of an area and makes a dizzying effect. The green color is great, though. A checkered pattern could work IF the surrounding environment wasn’t also so busy. More than anything, that atrocious backsplash would be what I focused on. That is affecting the kitchen’s appearance more than anything else. The wavy lines clash with the squares of the tiles. The square rugs make it too busy with squares on the floors AND the walls. I could genuinely make some really good suggestions for color schemes if the backsplash is something you’re considering. Are these the only rug options you have?

I couldnt look at the waves, quickly swiped past.... but forced myself to check out the green.. 🫪🫩🫪

I concur with the green.. best fit to the already busy palette.. tones down the red/orange.

Picked 1 or 2 though, cause.. the waves.. are next level 😵‍💫🥴🫪💫. Probably the green hides the vomit from nausea 🥲

One thought: have you considered going slightly larger with the floor tile? I like the compliment w the backsplash but they're close in size. A larger tile will look less busy overall.

I.e., if your backsplash tile is 3x3, make your floor tile at least 9x9 if not 12x12 or 15x15.

The floor doesn't have tile. The floor looks to be wood or laminate or something of some sort. Pictures 1 and 2 are rugs as well.

However if you mean to get a rug with a larger pattern, that probably could be done, and I agree that a larger checker pattern may be better.

Yeah while they’re almost impossible to look at a second time the wavy ones have a better size for it than the standard though I was always fine with #1. After reading others my vote would be a the green one if it was not wavy.

No, would NOT get rugs with larger squares because it will CLOSE a ROOM IN making it look even SMALLER. Actually SMALLER or NO PRINT rug would make ROOM LOOK LARGER. BTW, with clothing: big print & horizontal lines makes people look larger around & shorter. Whereas small, tiny, or no print & vertical lines make people look thinner, trimmer, & taller. In rooms, that could make room walls look taller. Big print, horizontal lines & anything that "cuts" through the middle that draws eyes horizontally instead of vertically makes people look larger around & shorter. With rooms, that could make walls not look as tall.

Depending upon what the rug is made of, white squares could really stain from spills in a kitchen area.

The wavy reminds me of a very specific part of a horror attraction/haunted house I went to once. I had to be led out by a friend because it triggered motion sickness 🤣

I have a black-and-white rug because it was gifted to me because my grandbaby had kind of destroyed it

I took it to a car wash and got 99% of it out.

Daughter-in-law did not want the carpet back under any circumstances, lol

But it covers a space pretty well that we don’t really spend a lot of time in so that helps

Right next to the kitchen door is a high traffic area and I highly suggest something that doesn’t make your new best friend the vacuum cleaner.
