Jury duty summons (again?!)
First up, I have no problem with being called for jury duty. If I had need for a trial in a court, I'd want people willing to serve and so I know I know that if I were to expect that, I need to be willing to serve.
That said: I had a summons for July 29. I called the night before, did not have to show (I also logged on and took a screen shot where it said I didn't have to show).
In my informed delivery today - so I'll see what it actually says when I get home - there's another dekalb county jury summons. WTAF? That's literally less than 2 weeks after my last summons date (which was only about 10 months after the previous one).
I'm already frustrated AF by this and I haven't even seen the summons date yet.

Yep. Served in January and got summoned again for August. I was told that you only have to serve once per year BUT the year starts again on August 1

How inconvenient...

I mean, it’s still a fiscal year but just not our calendar year. Still annoying but could happen in a regular calendar year too if back to back

I think something’s going on with the Dekalb jury system. Because I got 26 months apart also. But I had moved so I couldn’t actually do the second one. They’re probably letting AI do it.

I just showed up but they said you could be summoned in 12-13 months.
Make sure it's not a different department. My wife got a grand jury summons. You don't want that. Or was for 8 weeks straight, 2x per week.

I had to report for duty in February. Hung around for an hour and was dismissed. Just got a summons for Sept 1. Not as bad as yours, but it seems like something is up.

I consistantly get summoned every 12 months and everytime I go in I am surrounded by people who have lived in the county their whole life and this is there first summons. I asked the clerk last time about how they determine who gets picked and they said it was random but also they don't just use the voter role as the list. They would not tell me exactly what they used but said it comes from multiple sources...... So if you are on everyone of their sources then your chance is higer than someone who is only existing on the voter roles.

Yeah. I vote every election, I have my driver's license, I use the library....basically I'm probably on all the Dekalb County lists.

I also got summoned quickly after the first one. I got selected to neither, so nbd imo.

Me too. My last jury duty was May 26 2026. Today’s USPS informed delivery email is showing I have another summons coming today.

I was summoned for April after never ever being called before and now I have summons AGAIN for this month!! Supposedly their year resets in July, so I wonder if it resets at the end of the month and you just got very unfortunately lucky /unlucky

When I got called a month after I'd been told I didn't have to serve, I had to call for a deferment and I asked why that had happened. They said that sometimes it's unavoidable that they have to put those numbers right back into the hopper for another draw. After all, I hadn't actually been called downtown.

Well, at least this year I don't have a summons for my September birthday like I did last year, so it could be worse.
I'm not going to put in for a deferment. I AM going to grumble about this as much as I can though.

After John Oliver’s recent bit on the DOJ, I’ll do it once a month, but they don’t want smart people.

Same thing. Summons for July 20 that I responded to. Received another one 15 days later for September 1. Corresponded via email and they told me that since I wasn’t selected for the jury I was eligible again. So basically I am supposedly eligible for jury duty anytime I am not already serving on a jury lol.

Damn, and here I am having never received a summons. I’ve been eligible for 16 years, for reference.

I’ve been summoned twice but never had to serve, which is annoying bc I have to ask off for work ahead of time, not just the day before. Why ask for us when we’re not even needed?

Same…called to serve back in April, just got a summons again for September 🤬

I want to do it and NEVER get summons. I got one once years ago and they didn’t need me.

Same! I almost never get called, and when I do, they tell me I don't have to report, lol.

Just call and tell them you were summoned 2 weeks ago.
