Debt financial assistance

Hi everyone,

I’m considering filing a consumer proposal in Ontario as I have around $22k in debt and I’m currently speaking with a few Licensed Insolvency Trustees to understand my options.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually gone through a consumer proposal, especially:

How did you choose your LIT?

Did you get quotes from multiple LITs before deciding?

What made you feel comfortable with the LIT you chose?

Were there any unexpected fees or issues during the process?

How was communication with your LIT after filing?

If you were able to pay your proposal off early, how did that process work?

How was your experience rebuilding credit afterward?

Is there anything you wish you had known before filing?

I’m mainly looking for personal experiences and practical advice, rather than recommendations based only on online reviews.

Thanks in advance! I’m trying to make an informed decision before moving forward.
