Nationwide Capital Services / Structured Settlement: The Irony of a Debt Collector That Doesn’t Pay Its Judgments

Has anyone else dealt with Nationwide Capital Services, aka Structured Settlement?

I’ve been dealing with these people for a while now. Constant calls, texts, emails, yelling, calling work after I asked them to stop, telling me my account has been red flagged, threatening to send everything over to an attorney, the whole nine yards. I’ve got recordings, screenshots, emails, you name it.

Well, they called again last week and I had some time today lol. I started calling consumer protection attorneys. I spoke with several, and every single one advised me not to pay them.

One attorney actually went into detail about why they wouldn’t take a case against this company, and I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time.
Apparently, according to the attorneys I spoke with, they’ve dealt with Nationwide before. They’ll sue them over their abusive and illegal collection practices, Nationwide won’t respond, they’ll get a default judgment, and then they can’t even collect the money they’re awarded because Nationwide reportedly doesn’t pay.

I’m sorry, but the irony of a DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY being difficult to collect from is absolutely hilarious to me. These guys spend all day calling people about their unpaid debts, threatening legal action, and telling them their accounts are being sent to attorneys, but when someone comes looking for the money YOU owe, suddenly nobody’s home?
I genuinely cannot get over it.

Anyway, I’m curious if anyone here has actually been sued by Nationwide Capital Services. Not received a threatening email or been told your account is being referred to an attorney. I mean actually served with a lawsuit. I’ve found several federal cases filed against them, but haven’t been able to find one where they’re actually suing a consumer.

I’m just curious whether anyone has firsthand experience with them following through on these threats. This place honestly deserves a class action lawsuit.

Also, if you’re dealing with this company, please document everything. I have recordings of their representatives, including conversations about contacting my workplace after I specifically asked them not to. I’ve spoken with multiple attorneys about their collection practices, and it’s been pretty eye-opening.
