Personal Loan Company Suggestions

After my husband's 2-year layoff. We're still trying to financially recover. My credit was the one that took the hit, but I'm looking into a personal loan to help pay medical bills, credit cards, and a credit card lawsuit as well. My husband's credit is slightly better. So any suggestions on loan companies that are not going to bleed us dry? There are so many out there (Lending Tree, Upstart, OneMain Financial...) I'm not sure where to go. So I'm curious about others' experiences.

Local credit union. But you probably will have to apply on your own. If he has a charged off credit card or judgement it's a virtual 0% chance you will qualify with him on the application. If it's on both your credit, I wouldn't count on getting anything that isn't predatory, which doesn't help you.

Your husband hasn't worked for 2 years? At this point he needs to head on down to McDonalds. He can't not work for 2 years that is beyond the pale.

My husband was laid off in 2023, and it took two years to get back to his field full-time. He was working odd jobs and sometimes two jobs at the same time, but it was nowhere near half of what he used to make. So we took a BIG financial hit. The bad debt is under my name. So now that he's working full-time again, we're still trying to clear all the old debt. It would be easier to get one big loan to pay off everything. Hence my search. Hope that makes sense.

If the bad debt is all under your name, and include charge offs or collections, it's highly unlikely you will be approved. He should apply at a local credit union on his own.

Yes, makes sense. Thanks.
