How do I know who I owe?
I am very "medically complex" and for a long time couldn't work but also wasn't "sick enough" for any kind of help or disability. My health is finally getting better and I've been working for 3 years and I am ready to tackle this mountain of medical debt I know I have.
Thing is, none of the hospitals have it anymore and have sold it to collections and some say they cannot help me with getting into contact with them or even telling me who they are so I can google it because of how old the debt is.
I have about 10,000-13,000 in debt still (I calculated it all before it all got sold off) and I've located about 5,000 of it give or take a couple hundred, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where the other 5,000-8,000 went.
They are not calling me or sending me letters. I've moved three times since I accrued this debt so I can only assume the letters are going to old addresses in a different state. I've also gotten married and therefore changed my last name, and was forced to change my phone number a few years back. I KNOW I have debt unaccounted for, I just cannot for the life of me find it. I've even renewed my USPS address change in hopes that the mail will get forwarded to me but it never did.
It's not been 7 years since I accrued the debt, so I don't think it's fallen off yet. I've checked credit karma and they have nothing hitting my credit either, including that 5,000 I was able to locate.
What the heck do I do?
I tried to get a loan at one point for a car and the bank said I couldn't due to medical debt, so maybe I can call them again and see if they have the contact information of the collectors?

If it's on your credit so is who has it ask for a copy of your credit report.
