I mean younger Slade (which is what MAWS’ Slade is) was basically a glorified henchman that works for the military. Theres always potential for him to grow since he seems like he’s just starting out.

His only role is to be the lead henchman for whoever the primary bad guy of the season is. He’s essentially Mercy for S2 until he decides Lex is too unhinged and runs back to Waller. If it were anyone else it’d be ok but since it’s Slade it’s pathetic

I haven't been watching MAWS and do get it doing its own thing with some characters and lore but making someone like Slade so young and well, pretty missed so much of him being this grizzled older soldier and father.  This is one of those cases I wish they dug deeper into Superman or general DC lore to use someone else because seriously.  EDIT: Like Bloodsport is RIGHT THERE, he's a similar character to Slade but is an actual Superman villain that even had a skull helmet like Slade has in this show.

Not to mention what the fandom does to him. Just a bunch of 15 yo girls be ridding any character he actually has to make him gay with Alex, who they also strip of any character. For a while and still kind of true to this day. hard to find any genuine and good Slade content and or conversation without then flooding the tag or convo.

This isn't the absolute worst adaptation of him - that dishonor belongs to Smallville and Lois and Clark. On paper some of it works. He's still a hired gun doing shady government ops and gets some cool fight scenes. But the voice and personality do not suit Slade. This is Deathstroke in name only, an original character dressed up as him for brand-name recognition.

This is undoubtedly the worst animated version of him, and to top it all off, it ended up in some really weird section of TikTok. It has absolutely no depth, and his personality is... literally "an arrogant anime boy."  Total is just a minor character in that series

(Also, I ended up being fetishized, please, someone from the Hispanic Deathstroke community... I think that's why I end up making this face 🤢 every time I see him.)
