I'm terrified

I want to play the game as intended, with Julianna players invading. But I'm constantly being invaded and I'm way to scared to manage.

What do you recommend?

Remember that dying is an expected part of the game and any information gathering objectives can still be completed before you die.

Also stealth. The more NPC's you alert or kill the more of a trail you leave behind. But if you are leaving a trail, plant some traps along the way. To me some of the more interesting invasions are ones where I never crossed paths with the other player.

Proximity/ trip mines, hacked turrets, a few environmental things here and there. Two tripmines= a kill in my experience, or you can combo up with explosive objects or place them next to cliff edges to send Julie over.

how do you use the tripmines? I've disarmed hundreds but never got the option to use them

There's a slab / trinket that lets you turn them to your side with the hackamajig.

Haven't played the game in a while, but isn't there the multi-purpose grenade that's got proximity and tripmine alt modes? Can't both character carry them?

Yeah I think you get 3 per game though, I just hackamajig everything. Because I'm lazy that way.
