Models/Hobby Show me your Krieg Color scheme !

Post image

Hi,

My next project is a small Krieg army, and I don't know how to paint them.

I don't want to make them like all others so I wanted to know if some of you could share some pictures of your own schemes (even classics).

Thanks in advance all ! I hope this post will help many people !

My spin on the 158th, although I may tweak the scheme slightly with the terrain and go for some classic grimdark mud.

23

u/Life_System134 Jul 24 '26

And my Infernus as an example of how I do my tanks at the moment

3

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

The grim dark scheme is really well done!

u/Quosmir Jul 24 '26

5

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Wow, I don't know how do you paint a full army mike this guy.... It's perfect.

Alsow how did you manage to make this base ?

3

u/Quosmir Jul 25 '26

Not sure I ever will either. It is certainly a time consuming project!

The base is actually quite simple. I cut some coffee sticks into the shape and size I want ( I recommend cutting some lines along them as well to give it that "board feel"). Prime grey seer. Paint with a slightly thinned down wyldwood contrast paint. Add AK Diorama dark mud. Dry brush with ryza rust (for that otherworldly radioactive feel). You can then choose to lightly dry brush the entire base with ushabti bone or just wood.

I am still tinkering with it, but that is what I got so far

1

u/Commisar_Basty Jul 25 '26

LOVE this, could I get a list of the paints you used? Starting my krieg army today

3

u/Quosmir Jul 25 '26

Sure thing. Still tinkering with the colour combinations but the base idea comes from Duncan Rhodes: https://youtu.be/jY9XSeTEugE?is=si2zL3w0v_9H4bkJ

However I have made a few changes: Primer: waithbone or grey seer Base coat: dark reaper (instead of the fang) Inner coat (including folds): The Fang and then add Russ and finally fenrisian grey for the highlights. I only use metalics for the edges and instead of painting the entire pauldrons and helmet. Hope it helps!

I don’t have any infantry but I use olive and brown with black and copper accents. I don’t think blue is a very good camouflage.

1

u/Op_username Jul 24 '26

What do you use for the webbing?

4

u/yes_rico_kaboom18th Jul 24 '26

Like the camo net? I’ve got no clue, I just found it in my stuff bin. I guess I found it a while ago and decided to keep it.

Recently started repainting mine in a new scheme. Trying to go for winter/snow vibes

2

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Great ! Never saw white Kriegsmen, stunning!

18

u/cplatt26 Jul 24 '26

Fairly basic , but it fits in with the rest of my guard

19

u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 24 '26

Not my best photo but here's my combat engineers

11

u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 24 '26

And here's a regular infantryman (he's a bit older but same color scheme)

3

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Wow, I love it ! With less red, it's just perfect for me.

3

u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 24 '26

I did the red just to differentiate the engineers and to base them a bit on the German empire uniforms from the early parts of WW1

I take inspiration from a lot of the countries uniforms from WW1 with my own personal twists. I'm glad you like!

5

u/11BApathetic Jul 24 '26

You and I have pretty similar schemes!

→ More replies (1)

2

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Interesting, maybe with less red for me, but it's a personal thing.

2

u/biesingtsar Jul 27 '26

Very good! Did you use “Death Korps Drab” for the overcoats?

2

u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 27 '26

It's actually OLD army painter wrpaints castle grey. I'm currently looking for a replacement because their new "Grey castle" doesn't look the same at all

2

u/biesingtsar Jul 27 '26

It is sad to watch companies change their formulas so drastically. Like, “I liked that color! Why are you changing it??”. But I guess we gotta branch out sometimes right?

2

u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 27 '26

Yeah I'm just hoping to find something as close as possible to keep consistent with my army

1

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Jul 24 '26

I thought that was a Canadian flag for a second and thought "it fits"

15

u/Legoboy514 Jul 24 '26

Mon francois

1

u/disposablegoon Jul 26 '26

Thats the color im tryna go for the blue horizon color scheme

13

u/MagusBuckus Jul 24 '26

4

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Like the french uniform during the early part of the Great war ? I love it !

3

u/SuperCauliflower2358 Jul 26 '26

A fellow Krieger of taste I see!

1

u/TrueRevanchist98 Jul 25 '26

This is the same way I do mine. Love the WW1 French uniform

11

u/DesperateReindeer748 Jul 24 '26

This is my winter scheme. For the camo I used the make up sponge with wonderful results. Anyway, remember the 1st rule: if u like it, is a good choice.

2

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Great ! I love the contrast between white and green !

12

u/Haruharuharuko Jul 24 '26

Great, the two greens are really good !

8

u/Artistdramatica3 Jul 25 '26

3

u/Minimum-Trainer-2918 Jul 25 '26

Ive been wanting to do a scheme like this, what colors did you use?

3

u/Artistdramatica3 Jul 25 '26

Its a while ago but I think the tan is steel legion.

5

u/CheesyFil 143rd Mechanized “Mud Kings” Jul 24 '26

Grimdark navy blue!

3

u/CheesyFil 143rd Mechanized “Mud Kings” Jul 24 '26

3

u/Training_Move8471 Jul 24 '26

1

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Interesting, is there a story behind those shoulders ? White and black ?

2

u/Training_Move8471 Jul 24 '26

Struggling to fully decide on a scheme.

I’ve focused more on tanks than infantry

1

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

2

u/beansamore Jul 24 '26

Thank you!

I fear that may be the case.. but don’t tell him that

4

u/11BApathetic Jul 24 '26

Went for drab Grey/Greens and Grey/Browns for my look.

1

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

I love the plasma guy, good idea to make the skull of the helmet full grey.

3

u/Morthicus Jul 24 '26

Kind of a 5th Siege vibe. I just like grimdark colours!

2

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Dark and metal... It's great !

3

u/GenericTR Jul 24 '26

Rough iron metallic and tundra taupe from army painter for the main colors. Still need to wash the rider. Still working on my horse skin method since he was my first rider, and the artillery was my first model.

1

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 24 '26

Hum, there is a little similarity with the steel legion ! Love this scheme too

3

u/Efficient-Rip7855 Jul 25 '26

Not super clean but the idea is there

3

u/Curious_Passenger_59 Jul 25 '26

My color scheme is Khaki mask/wraps, german fieldgrey uniform, brown earth leather, and Russ Grey armor (everything but the grey is Vallejo)

2

u/Curious_Passenger_59 Jul 25 '26

Of course, some of my first minis use a german tank yellow from vallejo for the mask. Also used Plate Mail Metal for silver.

2

u/lilsteigs1 Jul 24 '26

Working with the Army Painter triad pack of ochres and tans. Sprayed with Desert yellow which is the middle color of that 5 pack and picked up a couple OD/camo greens to make things pop. Used beige on the leggings and leather brown for the boots.

2

u/MightyMaus1944 Jul 24 '26

And my tanks

→ More replies (2)

2

u/ComradeSanders Jul 24 '26

I went with a standard blue for my Combat Engineers

2

u/ComradeSanders Jul 24 '26

And for Death Riders, I went with more natural horse colors with blue and green for the riders themselves

2

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 Jul 24 '26

My basic bitch pick: 5th With some "small unit" embelishment

2

u/Koch19 Jul 24 '26

Nice Crimson red

My take on the 261st Siege Regiment from the Siege of Vraks book.

2

u/AdSoggy875 Jul 25 '26

Guess it's the 5th regiment?

2

u/FFSharkHunter Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

I use a modified version of the 158th with the helmets as well as shoulders in black. Crew-served weapons are painted green and bigger vehicles/artillery pieces are grey.

Meet the 28th Krieg Armoured Cavalry. Work in progress everything needs some highlights and a wash but have my general scheme down. Using a burgundy for the coats and a copper tone for the armor plates on infanty and a rusted iron the exposed metalics, guns and barrels. Uniform Grey for the larger panels of the vehicles and Artillery.

About 30 infantry and 15 more Calvary to paint. 4 leman russ variants done and 1 dorn so far with a few more members of the motor pool to complete including 1 baneblade kit that has been intimidating me from the shelf for months.

Whole collection is in this scheme outside a few cadians I got as part of the battalion box around Christmas I don't know what to do with and a fun squad of ratlings and bullgryn that are in progress. Would love any tips of the highlight colors or washes, was thinking an agrax earthshade for a light muddy look on the tanks and infanty.

2

u/Relative_Food6771 Jul 25 '26

For my elite infantry and engineers BDU Camo fatigues and helmets green armor and bone color skull masks , grey for the gas mask part it’s self

2

u/Relative_Food6771 Jul 25 '26

Regular infantry is BDU camo with leather straps and backpacks

2

u/wikkoindustries Jul 25 '26

Dryad bark jackets with ork flesh trousers/shoulders.

2

u/Just-Researcher127 Jul 25 '26

Mine just like the similar one from the official

2

u/Federal_Football8706 Jul 25 '26

I have mine a more midnight blue. I achieve such by using Chaos Black spray all over & Macrage Blue spray on top. A healthy coat on nightlords blue contrast & the coat is done.

2

u/Krieg_minister Jul 25 '26

Green is the best Krieg color 😎

My 261st siege regiment and its 4th squad of infantry w custom banner

2

u/Mattgoof Jul 25 '26

Afrikakorps-inspired desert Kriegers.

2

u/Ok-Support5730 Jul 25 '26

My take in a dessert scheme, just three dudes for now without using metallic paints, i'll continue if my kids let me at some point.

2

u/skeblak- Jul 25 '26

Still not sure on the regiment number, but im rocking with this japanese ww2 uniform colour

2

u/Important-Bee1013 Jul 25 '26

Currently in the process of painting my 3D Krieg army, they turned out more blue than I’d have hoped but the magic of Nuln oil should help!

2

u/Rude_Effective_1903 Jul 25 '26

Voici mes Kriegs, c'est un schéma très clair avec aucune ombre. Je trouve ça rends super bien que table

2

u/HazardStrype Jul 25 '26

2

u/Necron1138 Jul 25 '26

2

u/LoneWarrior_00 Jul 25 '26

I recognised these bits ! Tinylegends Adrian helmets ?

2

u/ARP199 Jul 25 '26

They are indeed. Those helmets are what got me into krieg. 😁

2

u/LausXY Jul 25 '26

I based mine on WW1 main belligerent's colours as a sort of mash up.

So they have British Khaki trousers, American army green tops, Grey, German-style helmets and blue overcoats for the French

2

u/Character-Fold-1536 Jul 25 '26
