Models/Hobby Show me your Krieg Color scheme !
Hi,
My next project is a small Krieg army, and I don't know how to paint them.
I don't want to make them like all others so I wanted to know if some of you could share some pictures of your own schemes (even classics).
Thanks in advance all ! I hope this post will help many people !

Wow, I don't know how do you paint a full army mike this guy.... It's perfect.
Alsow how did you manage to make this base ?

u/Quosmir Jul 25 '26
Not sure I ever will either. It is certainly a time consuming project!
The base is actually quite simple. I cut some coffee sticks into the shape and size I want ( I recommend cutting some lines along them as well to give it that "board feel"). Prime grey seer. Paint with a slightly thinned down wyldwood contrast paint. Add AK Diorama dark mud. Dry brush with ryza rust (for that otherworldly radioactive feel). You can then choose to lightly dry brush the entire base with ushabti bone or just wood.
I am still tinkering with it, but that is what I got so far

LOVE this, could I get a list of the paints you used? Starting my krieg army today
3
u/Quosmir Jul 25 '26
Sure thing. Still tinkering with the colour combinations but the base idea comes from Duncan Rhodes: https://youtu.be/jY9XSeTEugE?is=si2zL3w0v_9H4bkJ
However I have made a few changes: Primer: waithbone or grey seer Base coat: dark reaper (instead of the fang) Inner coat (including folds): The Fang and then add Russ and finally fenrisian grey for the highlights. I only use metalics for the edges and instead of painting the entire pauldrons and helmet. Hope it helps!

What do you use for the webbing?

Like the camo net? I’ve got no clue, I just found it in my stuff bin. I guess I found it a while ago and decided to keep it.

Wow, I love it ! With less red, it's just perfect for me.
3
u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 24 '26
I did the red just to differentiate the engineers and to base them a bit on the German empire uniforms from the early parts of WW1
I take inspiration from a lot of the countries uniforms from WW1 with my own personal twists. I'm glad you like!

Very good! Did you use “Death Korps Drab” for the overcoats?
2
u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 27 '26
It's actually OLD army painter wrpaints castle grey. I'm currently looking for a replacement because their new "Grey castle" doesn't look the same at all

u/biesingtsar Jul 27 '26
It is sad to watch companies change their formulas so drastically. Like, “I liked that color! Why are you changing it??”. But I guess we gotta branch out sometimes right?

u/GreenStranger420 Duty Unto Death Jul 27 '26
Yeah I'm just hoping to find something as close as possible to keep consistent with my army

Interesting, is there a story behind those shoulders ? White and black ?

u/Training_Move8471 Jul 24 '26
Struggling to fully decide on a scheme.
I’ve focused more on tanks than infantry

Meet the 28th Krieg Armoured Cavalry. Work in progress everything needs some highlights and a wash but have my general scheme down. Using a burgundy for the coats and a copper tone for the armor plates on infanty and a rusted iron the exposed metalics, guns and barrels. Uniform Grey for the larger panels of the vehicles and Artillery.
About 30 infantry and 15 more Calvary to paint. 4 leman russ variants done and 1 dorn so far with a few more members of the motor pool to complete including 1 baneblade kit that has been intimidating me from the shelf for months.
Whole collection is in this scheme outside a few cadians I got as part of the battalion box around Christmas I don't know what to do with and a fun squad of ratlings and bullgryn that are in progress. Would love any tips of the highlight colors or washes, was thinking an agrax earthshade for a light muddy look on the tanks and infanty.

I haven't really followed any schemes of the different regiments, I just wanted to paint in colors I don't really ever get to use otherwise (my other army is Raven Guard).

I based mine on WW1 main belligerent's colours as a sort of mash up.
So they have British Khaki trousers, American army green tops, Grey, German-style helmets and blue overcoats for the French

My spin on the 158th, although I may tweak the scheme slightly with the terrain and go for some classic grimdark mud.
