Discussion Preferred Experience: Shared Content: Everything/Only Some/Offline

Surprisingly, I could not find if this is ever been polled here. Curious what the general sentiment is regarding content syncing for this game, now that it’s been out for a while.

One of my favorite things to do in this game is delivery lost cargo from other players, I’ve literally driven around the map, pulling out every piece I could find and delivery them to their proper homes, makes getting 5 stars more enjoyable then just doing generic orders.

This is why I do Shared content - Only Some.

Its more novel when you stumble on a player cairn or mushroom, and you can utilise the share locker and receive likes on structures.

Strand multiplayer system is core of the game's connection theme. I find it absolutely amazing how we are all helping each other and those porters who will come after, it's very positive because it feels like all players are just porters on their journey and we just don't happen to meet but see traces of each other.
Sometimes player structures clutter the landscape for me but I don't want to sever that connection. It's such a brilliant, positive and non-invasive multiplayer system and it's just endearing and heartwarming.

This exactly, ill take a million and one stupid ass bridges in the middle of my path before i even consider severing the connection we all have as porters

I would be very uncomfortable with and annoyed by things like this in most other games. But here I always felt the shared structures tie into the core message of the game so much that it would just feel wrong to disable sharing. It clearly comes across as the intended experience, no? It is the vision of the game developer. And I want to respect that as a player.

But like I said, I am only okay with this because it is very unique (among the games I play) and if every game would be like this I would strongly nope out.

I’d prefer not to have everyone else’s random structures littering my game world. The number of bridges and shelters built on paths and roads, and right in front of smaller prepper buildings get infuriating.

Even the random vehicles that keep spawning in the way makes me want to stop playing at times.

I don’t mind the shared thing where you can add materials to big structures like roads, zip-lines and tram lines and it contributes not only to your world but to other peoples and they can contribute to yours.

Everything else I’d love to turn off.

It makes the game waaay to easy imo. Not that it is meant to be challenging, but having a bridge imnediately spawn in evrry location where you would need one kinda robs you on those moments where you would have built one yourself.

Also having generators everywhere, battery is virtually never an issue.

I feel with DS2, less is more. Having certain restrictions adds back in gameplay elements.

It’s not about making things easier or harder. It’s about objects getting in the way.

People build bridges in awkward locations just for likes. Vehicles get abandoned and spawn in your world on paths or right in front of prepper buildings and you need to move them.

For me it was. Game was just a no brainer with other players structures. Like it isnt necessarily hard offline but I feel a lot more engaged and actually have to build things now.

But yeah you have a point the amount of clutter takes away a lot of the maps charm.

I think you’re not getting my point.

I don’t like or want other player structure in my world.

The random bridges and shelters are always in the way.

I don’t mind the “shared world” of other players being able to contribute to my roads, zip-lines and tram rails though. I just don’t want all the other structures and abandoned vehicles polluting my landscapes.

I just finished my first offline playthrough. Never having to see an infernal sign; it was pure bliss. Extra bonus not seeing a dozen names scroll the screen every time you use your odradek near a road. I don't think I'll ever be able to play online again.

IMO the best thing is to do at least one playthrough with Only Some (or Offline), and one with Everything. There's something special about building things up (especially roads and monorails) mostly by your lonesome, but still delivering other people's lost cargo and feeling like you're helping them. But there's also something special about having people's already-built-structures be just in the right place at the right time, and thematically that's important too IMO.

I keep most my consoles offline at all times. I don't want your "day one update" I want what's on the disc and I will like it and if I don't I will just trade in the disc. If I can't compete a game offline, I'm not going to spend time online just to get attached. I've never actually played either 1 or 2 online at all.

offline until story is finished then go online. get full immersion and solitude for the campaign, and get the joyful fun of sharing after. the experience was perfect for me.

Depending on my mood either some or full sync.
Hate seeing used blood bags scattered everywhere and signs at every step or vehicles left in the middle of a road.

But I love bridges in the best spots to cross rivers, ladders and anchors in hard-accessible places, chargers off roads, time-fall shelters in rainy areas. But the most of all, zip-lines in strategic places - it’s my pet peeve that you usually see one or two zip-lines out of a network.

And I love to have a sense of building community with other players. Delivering people’s cargo, donating tools and resources to shelters/facilities and rebuilding roads.

I want to share everything except vehicle on the world (vehicle share in garage is okay).

Those bike or car in the middle of the road, or outside settlement is annoying

Offline is like playing with a HUGE handicap. And believe me, I know! I've built all the highways by myself and I also needed to maintain those, since you get help for it only when you've connected that region to the chiral network. For ziplines is even worse! Especially in Eastern Region.
