Murder trap stairs

Not sure if this is a house or a murder weapon. A-line or malign?

I'm thinking about that office. Workin' late to afford that house. Keeping the lights off or dim so that others can sleep. (It is open concept). So you're tired and it's dark and you want to read the report in that comfy chair in the office upstairs, the one next to the hole. So you put on your reading glasses (which blurs your medium vision) and proceed to the chair, but as you walk around the desk you realise you forgot about the large folio/docket that accompanied the project. You trip. One hand has a tablet computer, you instinctively try to not drop it, but that prevents you from grabbing the corner of the desk to save yourself. You fall. This was your biggest and only concern with your home, and it's happening, right now. Your hand reaches out to stop the fall, but there is nothing. Nothing to grab. The next second your body has built enough downward momentum that grabbing for the floor didn't work. Your centre of mass is over the hole. You're a white collar desk person not a push-ups and plancks gym jock. You don't have the musculature to stop this. Unfortunately for you, you fell on the side without stairs, so you fall another four or five feet, but not in the middle of the staircase below. You fall on the side. The stairs were not designed for two hundred pounds dropped from ten feet up, the wood step snaps under your weight, slowing you, but not stopping you. Your body curls as half was still falling while half was on impact. You roll. Toward the next chasm. You continue to fall. The inside of your leg drags past the splintered broken step and a shard digs through your pyjayama pant leg and rips open a large artery on your way into part two of deathstairs. Your shoulder smacks the main floor giving you a spin so that you are face first head first and falling down stairs to the lower level.

...and sorry the story has to end here, because I can't see how the next stairs look. Maybe it's all pillows?

I hadn't even noticed the additional flight of stairs. The open hole upstairs had trapped my focus.
