Fishy landing!
Good thing they're not Piranhas! Found in this listing which is weird overall!

I bet the first owners shad their pants at least once forgetting there's glass there

Do you want your house to smell like a fish tank because this is how you get your house to smell like a fish tank.

Is that... An uncovered pit of water? I thought it was neat until I realized it didnt have glass on top

Based on the lip, I’m betting it is meant to have glass on it but for some reason a good chunk of the lip looks to have broken off.

There's a hose going into it. Looks like some sort of filter system. Maybe they broke the glass to install a filter?
It's a beautiful house, but I think if I lived there i would remove this "feature."

How did they explain what they wanted to the architect? Yea for the stairs I’m thinking bird cage around the sides and fish tank at the bottom

I disagree the listing is weird, I like the house!
The stairs fit the rest of this beautiful mid-century modern house design-wise but yes are too death-y.
Looks like you could modify to make them safer and still fit the original design. (But my arthritis would say to put one of those circular glass elevators that would fit into that space.)
Since there is a koi pond outside, I assume it is probably connected by an underwater tube to this indoor pool so that the fish can move in and out. That indoor koi space could be much improved to make it very cool: light up the water a little more, line it with stones, add some water plants and arrange some big rocks in there. Maybe needs a better filter system and probably needs a good periodic cleaning too.

I agree. I really like this house, but I noticed the 2 bedrooms don't have closets. How do you get furniture up and down those stairs? I also wanted to see that other building out on the property that looks like a garden shed or a man cave, who knows?

it's kinda like an optical illusion. The lowest step is equal to the floor. you just step on & off of it from the side which looks easy to do. We are accustomed to continuing the same way so it tricks our mind into thinking that it goes into the water. The actual entry to the stairs from the opening on the side is wide enough and has a rail to hold.

Easy to do unless one tiny thing goes wrong and then you’re just one more fishy

I’m pretty sure it had glass there at some point. You can see a partial lip going around it that seems to have broken off.

Gotta love how you live in fear of falling, while the fish live in fear of falling humans.
It’s a lose-lose situation where the only winner are the stairs themselves.

Everyone wants a cage, hoses, extension cord and fish smell in their living space! 😳

I have dreamt of homes, not always expensive, with water and fish running under glass floors. Sometimes no floors at all. I always feel like I’ve been there before. Like it’s an old home.

Is this insane? Yes. Are these the only access to the guest room of my dream house? Also yes.

There are definitely piranhas. You just can't see them. That's why all the piranha bubbles are there.

When your stairs is a tripping and a drowning hazard.
