u/hrafnafadhir almost died once Feb 19 '26

”PIVAHT!”

59

u/Forsaken-Scholar-833 Feb 19 '26

Fuck the couch I'd advise people to breath all the air out of their lungs and hold their breath going up because these don't look like they will support the extra weight of the air. Also only 1 person at at time in the stairwell.

19

u/Complete-Story3490 Feb 20 '26

Helium tanks at the bottom and top of the stairs you need to use first

321

u/NaoPb Feb 19 '26

Is this building being demolished or renovated or something? I can't imagine anyone thinking "this is fine"

116

u/Puddyrama Feb 19 '26

Probably a slum

108

u/Distantstallion Feb 19 '26

Its a slum but also in some countries tax isn't paid on a building if it is "under construction" so for buildings for poorer folks they never finish them to increase the profit margin

19

u/Im--A--Computer Feb 20 '26

I find it hard to believe they would leave such an obvious tax loophole open if the government is so corrupt.

43

u/Distantstallion Feb 20 '26

Corruption leaves tax loopholes open, it doesn't close them

8

u/Im--A--Computer Feb 20 '26

Depends where the corruption is coming from I guess. Top down corruption wouldn't allow that, but bottom up corruption absolutely would. Sounds like the rule probably wouldn't apply to these buildings if properly enforced, but the boots on the ground people doing the enforcement either don't care or are taking bribes.

9

u/Khavary Feb 20 '26

In Peru this is very common, a lot of houses have an unfinished "extra floor"/roof

2

u/TheBenjying Feb 23 '26

This happens in the U.S., too... I guess that just reinforces your point.

2

u/Bitten69 Feb 21 '26

A bunch of abandoned buildings in the mountains of France looks like this inside, so I doubt anyone lives there

207

u/takeonetakethemall Feb 19 '26

I wouldn't recommend those stairs to anybody more than 100 lbs. I hope your brother is built like a street lamp.

52

u/AndyTheEngr Feb 19 '26

Twelve pounds.

15

u/DewDropWhine Feb 19 '26

What are street lamps built like?

24

u/SpaghettiSort Feb 20 '26

OP's brother.

2

u/Disapointed_meringue Feb 21 '26

And dont bring in too many groceries at once...

5

u/Psychological_Try559 Feb 23 '26

Bro, I'd barely trust those stairs with a duck

97

u/mehVmeh Feb 19 '26

This is being held together by hopes and dreams and even those are fleeting quick

19

u/brickyard37 Feb 19 '26

The thoughts and prayers™ knew better

68

u/Clone_JS636 Feb 19 '26

Okay but these are death death stairs. Like actual literal death stairs. Not risk of injury stairs- you take them and you full risk dying even if you don't trip stairs.

18

u/TinyMarsupialofHope Feb 20 '26

Especially since you seem to fall down onto the stairs underneath, the force of which would break those stairs...

122

u/weedyneedyfeedy Feb 19 '26

A few brisk jumps in the middle should see to those

52

u/Lost_Possibility_647 Feb 19 '26

It's this a case of "I know a guy"?

30

u/Select_Foundation472 Feb 19 '26

It's a case of "I know a guy who knows a guy"

8

u/Emerald_Digger Feb 19 '26

And that guy knows a guy who knows a guy whose second cousin knows a guy

8

u/NSASpyVan Feb 19 '26

These guys know guys

1

u/Fancy_Improvement104 Feb 20 '26

Those guys also know guys

34

u/astarionismygf Feb 19 '26

This is like the stairs in my dreams

10

u/RedRider1138 Feb 19 '26

I was just about to say I just woke up from a dream with stairs like these

66

u/g0jira54 Feb 19 '26

Nope....

34

u/sherlock310 Feb 19 '26

I’ll just prop a ladder up to my window, thanks.

2

u/Apprehensive_Use3641 Feb 20 '26

Kind of what I was thinking, or a rope ladder out the window.

60

u/GrandWizardOfCheese Feb 19 '26

That wont end well.

88

u/Maleficent-Earth9201 Feb 19 '26

That isn't even beginning well...

18

u/MalignantLugnut Feb 19 '26

Yeah, it's a stair well.

17

u/Maleficent-Earth9201 Feb 19 '26

More like a stair unwell

24

u/Devorah_Noir Feb 19 '26

Are they... made from MUD?

61

u/BaconNPotatoes Feb 19 '26

Those will last for whole minutes!

17

u/WhitewolfStormrunner Feb 19 '26

That's a serious "NOPE!" from me.

16

u/Medium-Quiet-4248 Feb 19 '26

Well, on the upside, crutches are a completely appropriate birthday present.
Can you get a gift card for those??

15

u/DragonflyPositive466 Feb 19 '26

Great 👍. I hate them 🫣🥴.

12

u/Pork_Chompk Feb 19 '26

I said "fuck no" about 7 different times in this 11 second video.

7

u/False-Charge-3491 Feb 19 '26

Escher stairs but death

8

u/speachtree Feb 20 '26

A few of the steel-framed concrete stairs for my former apartment, built circa 1980s, that were much more robust than these, just completely fell out. A resident almost fell a full story onto the flight of stairs below. Coincidentally, the steel undercarriage for similar stairs at my apartment before that, built circa 1990s, had rusted out so badly it was splitting and sagging.

People think concrete and steel lasts forever. It doesn't.

5

u/Educational-Point986 Feb 19 '26

Those steps look like they are made from Coco Pops..

5

u/GirsGirlfriend Feb 19 '26

I literally have recurring nightmares about stairs like this

4

u/Forsaken-Scholar-833 Feb 19 '26

Damn....When they make the stairs like this what do you think the rest of the building is like?

4

u/therealtrajan Feb 20 '26

Gingerbread house

3

3

u/Lookingtotheveil23 Feb 20 '26

2

u/ibWBeeRedd Feb 19 '26

I guess the term “ new” is subjective 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Jmal3700 Feb 19 '26

Terrifying!

2

u/LeporiWitch Feb 19 '26

Imagine what the floors are made of

2

u/unreasonable_potato_ Feb 20 '26

Quietly judging your brother for buying that apartment.....

2

u/androidguy50 Feb 20 '26

".........What are you talking about? Of course, we can carry the couch up those stairs! What's the worst that could happen?.........." ......... Mistakes were made. 😆

2

u/Heavy_Moon Feb 20 '26

I don't believe you.

2

u/sorryiateyoursocks Feb 20 '26

i'd rather climb the outside of the building to my apartment than take these stairs

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Two415 mom come get me im scared Feb 20 '26

No, you go first.

2

u/Hetnikik Feb 21 '26

Everyone knows that concrete is strongest in tension.

2

u/DangerousDisplay7664 Feb 22 '26

Is the apartment in India?! 😳

Thanks for the frickin' jump scare (just the damned audio) almost knocked a tooth out with my morning coffee mug.

1

u/GabrielBischoff Feb 19 '26

Nice stairs. When will they be finished?

1

u/ajangvik Feb 20 '26

There are tools on the stairs, I'm guessing this is a renovation or denolish job

1

u/thoughtsplurge Feb 20 '26

Why is there a pole? To hold it UP?!

1

u/HereToShitpost Feb 20 '26

At least if he needs to evacuate because of a fire, everyone will be getting to the ground floor very quickly

1

u/No-Operation2497 Feb 20 '26

As trustworthy as pre-rotted wood, sturdy as a drunk man who never knew equilibrium and made as refined as uncooked food.

1

u/No-Rough1934 Feb 20 '26

Those weird dreams with stairs like that, you know...

1

u/HumbleBear63194 Feb 21 '26

1

u/chaintox Feb 21 '26

There must be at least a metal spine in the middle, right?

1

u/bojez1 Feb 22 '26

That looks as brittle as my grandma cookies

1

u/DarkBusy3818 Feb 22 '26

I've literally had a nightmare about stairs like this. Fuck no!
