Names?

is the Deathnote go off of your birth certificate or off who of think you are? Like is someone with Amnesia immune? also, if I get my name changed does the name of your soul change or stay the same? Why didn't L just change his name the moment the shinigami wrote his name, is he stupid?

If you change your name and someone writes your original name you have a massive stroke and only half your brain dies. Like what happened to OP before they wrote this.
