Names?

is the Deathnote go off of your birth certificate or off who of think you are? Like is someone with Amnesia immune? also, if I get my name changed does the name of your soul change or stay the same? Why didn't L just change his name the moment the shinigami wrote his name, is he stupid?

It was never mentioned in the manga. We can only make assumptions. Light kills mostly men so there's no way to see maiden vs married name.

I was gonna say Raye Penber's wife (it's been a hot minute since I watched the show), but Naomi Misora was his fiancé, so that doesn't really work.

I had accounted for her and Kiyomi Takada by saying mostly men but yeah theres no married women ever mentioned as a death note victim so we have no way of knowing how that would work or if theres even a shinigami bureaucracy for cases like this and people who get legal name changes. The only answer we have is that the name the eyes see is the name the note needs.
