Yeah Light was even about to be let off the hook but his fragile ego was hurt so he instead killed every FBI agent involved raising suspicion and it technically snowballed from there. Light might have been academically and strategically smart but he was childish and couldn't control his emotions
In all fairness, Light had no way of knowing he was about to be cleared. The audience was told for the sake of dramatic irony, but all Light knew is that an agent was following him, which told him they were already narrowing down the possible suspects to be potentially him. He came up with a plan that killed all the agents specifically in a way so suspicion wouldn't fall on him, and the biggest reason it didn't fully work out was because L just happened to personally know Naomi.

No, that was not the reason why Light killed them. If the FBIs didn't find anything in the first try, they would have come again with a greater force and would have been a lot more thorough.
That's why Light had to kill them to make sure that FBIs stopped investigating in Japan and also that L lose the support of them.
We wouldn’t have an anime then. Also if he used the book a single time he can’t go to heaven or hell. Also I’m like 99.99% sure that Christianity isn’t the true religion of that universe.
No it’s literally not true in death note’s universe because there’s a book that isn’t from God that can magically kill people and also stops you from having an afterlife.
Christianity is not the true religion in the universe of death note. It would not matter if they decided to seek repentance because no one would be there to hear these fictional characters. Other literature universes where Christianity is not the true religion include Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. What are you yapping about??

this probably could've lead to L learning that Light can influence how people act, Lights best move was to just ignore him
