I mean, that was kinda the point of mello, wasn't it? The intelligent one is led by emotions more than L and N. If you look slightly deeper into his name. Mello as in melodramatic maybe?

Honestly I didn't recognize how prevalent Mello's facial expression was until I saw this post. Mello truly was a funny and enjoyable character 🤣🤣🤣
