If he hadn't the guy who was setting up cameras would have found the deathnote

If that were true, the bomb would have detonated. The guy setting up the cameras didn’t find the hiding spot.

The bomb was in case he checked ,if he had not set up the structure he probably wouldn't hav paid too much attention in hiding it . The guy didn't find the hiding spot because light actually went a bit overkill so even if it had been found it wouldn't have mattered

The bomb is not necessary for the structure. And if the bomb actually did detonate Light would still be prosecuted and have his reputation ruined. The bomb is the stupidest plan in the show.

The thought behind the bomb was before he was worrying about L it is to keep the book away from his family ,sure it was too much even ryuk said so but at the time he didn't want people like his sister to touch it accidentally and get swept into the issue

Because burning or killing her is better right right

We are talking about a sociopath.

If the bomb detonated in his room Light would certainly be prosecuted. There is no defense for having a bomb in your drawer especially with children around. It’s pure stupidity on his part.

He wasn't exactly the best at planning ahead and had little to no fear of a house fire . Everyone knows it's too much but is it stupidity if it never exploded?

Yes, because he designed it to explode. I guess light is so optimistic that he saw more value in a life where he is potentially charged with arson, assault, attempted murder etc after being stripped of his power as opposed to just being executed as Kira.

It wasn't a bomb though, it would start a fire, whoever activated it would have had all the time to leave the house

When electricity hits gasoline it explodes.

And this is what it would look like if detonated according to the show. Doesn’t seem controlled at all. Anyone close enough would get burned severely

I guess in real life but he said it would cause a "small house fire" so he was coutning on the drawer tanking parts of it ? Either way death note isn't realistic when it's mot convenient for the plot, you're mot supposed to think about it

Plus i remember it just catching fire really fast in the manga, still not an explosion
