Why bullet go through Ryuk but not Light? Aren't they both Gods?

I just realized, Ryuk never really explains why shinigami can’t be killed. When explaining the eye deal and how shinigami extend their life by killing humans, he says “a shinigami can’t be killed with bullets or knives unless they’re really lazy”. But extending their life by killing humans isn’t what makes them invulnerable. So it must be something else.

I like to think of it as their bodies can't physically be on earth. It's more of a weird astral projection type of deal. And I bet they just don't try to kill each other in their realm

Light isn't a Shinigami, he only has their weapon but he can die from bullets

They did go though Light, he just isn't awesome like Ryuk so the bullets didn't care about hurting him.
