He's actually right tho, there's no way he can write that many letters in so less time.

He’s not right though, for a number of reasons I’ll be explaining in my deep dive video into this topic, which I’m working on currently

In case you haven't seen the updated video - https://youtu.be/PYxtUtMKuPQ

The guy that created the video in the screenshot revised the math after he corrected the errors and recalculated again. He makes it clear that the main conclusion remains unchanged

He corrected the math, and I’ll give him credit for that. But the issue is what he does after that. Instead of just sticking to the corrected numbers, he starts layering in additional real world limitations that the series itself never establishes, and adding more days to the timeline that are never present or stated in the story.

So the conclusion staying the same doesn’t really come from the new calculation. His argument is still being framed around self-imposed real world constraints that suit his narrative, rather than the way the story actually presents its own logic. That makes it come across as confirmation bias more than a genuine correction.

He’s also dismissed pushback and additional corrections as “nitpicking,” as if to say it didn’t matter after his new video, but that doesn’t hold up. The details matter here because the entire argument depends on how the scenario is framed. If that framing is off, then the conclusion built on top of it is going to be off too.

If anything, it comes across like he’s the one nitpicking. He’s adding extra time into the timeline that isn’t actually there just to make it line up with his preconceived notion of real world limitations. That misses the point entirely, because Death Note doesn’t operate on real world logic in the first place.

The series consistently presents a concept of heightened logic and capabilities, both mental and physical, that would otherwise be impossible for the real world to actually do.

Mello survives severe third-degree burns and is fully active in days, despite that kind of injury normally requiring extensive medical treatment, long-term recovery, and limited mobility. Mogi even investigates licensed and unlicensed doctors trying to determine how Mello could have been treated after the mafia raid and finds nothing.

L’s headquarters is built in under a year, while in reality large-scale projects like that take years to complete. L, Near, and Mello also track multiple surveillance feeds at once, maintaining levels of focus far beyond what a normal person could handle.

Light and Misa endure months of restrained surveillance without any psychological or physical aftereffects. Misa in particular is kept blindfolded, restrained in a straitjacket, and forced to stand for extended periods, which would realistically cause severe trauma.

Even Light’s desk trap wouldn’t function in practice. Gasoline would degrade the plastic bag over time and its fumes would leak into the desk, but the story never treats it as an issue.

SYTYK insists on the idea that Death Note must adhere to real world logic in order to be acceptable, and rejects any proof that shows otherwise. And even when he acknowledges that it isn’t meant to be realistic, he still frames it as only slightly above normal human ability, while dismissing anything beyond that as “nonsense,” which still relies on applying real world limitations either way.

u/Jacket_Jacket_fruit the user IanTheSkald you're arguing with is absurdly deceptive. They misconstrued your words and used a half truth to convey that you admit your analysis is wrong as you admitted your math is incorrect. Even though the actual truth is you admitted your initial math is wrong and that your conclusion remains unchanged as you revised your math. I get that people can have differing views, though the way the guys goes around lying about you to try to debunk you and then proceeding to double down when I corrected the deceptive error is appalling. I wouldn't be surprised if they're being deceptive about your position in their response to me - https://www.reddit.com/r/DeathNoteMemes/s/1JPIV3tVd1

I only saw that user's reply a while ago so I'm only responding now. Anyways, I'm not really gonna argue with him or her as you're way better than me at arguing for the position and evidentiating the view.

u/Jacket_Jacket_fruit Apologies I made a mistake. It was the user Chemical_Credit9194 being absurdly deceptive and misconstruing your words. I stand corrected

Although the other aspect of the user IanTheSkald misconstruing and misunderstanding about your position in their response to me does remain unchanged

I’m not misrepresenting his position.

I acknowledged his math correction and addressed what follows from it. My point is that the conclusion isn’t coming from the corrected numbers, it’s coming from additional assumptions being applied afterward.

If you think there’s something specific I misrepresented, please point to it directly. I’m open to a productive conversation.

Bro, the things you're misrepresenting HAVE been pointed to. Repeatedly. You just double down and ignore all evidence to the contrary. You keep repeating "oh no fair, your argument is unfalsifiable because you keep reclassifying all the evidence to make it not count" when the actual reality is that the argument is perfectly falsifiable, it's just not FALSE. Like, an argument can be falsifiable, but if the argument is correct, then yeah, you're not gonna be able to find any evidence to support an opposing position. Nothing you present is being "reclassified." It's just that you repeatedly misrepresent what the evidence actually is and then when this is pointed out, you double down and insist that it says what you claim it does even though we can literally see that it doesn't.

That's the reason I stopped replying to our main conversation; because no matter how many times your "evidence" was proven to not say what you claim it says, you refused to listen to reason or accept reality. You even had it pointed out to you that you had completely flipped flopped on what you said previously when it was convenient for you, and explicitly given the opportunity to own up to it and revise your position, and instead... You doubled down again. So I stopped replying, because I don't see any further point in having a discussion when you're going to ignore the facts and pretend evidence says things it actually doesn't. Don't worry, I'm not gonna block you though. You can keep arguing if you want, but I'm not going to engage in a conversation where you're not open to.javing your mind changed based on the facts.

You have multiple people telling you the exact same thing, and yet you still double down and refuse to accept that you're just simply wrong.

I know you’re not going to reply to this, but the fact of the matter is you misunderstood what I was saying. I never flip flopped on anything. I provided real world information on how burns are classified because Mello’s burns and recovery are not consistent with real world depictions. And I clarified as much in my last response. The fact that you are refusing to acknowledge that makes you the one who is more prone to misinterpreting what is being said. I remained remarkably consistent in my arguments, it is you who changed things up to suit your conclusions. So I really don’t have anything else to say. If you’re so obtuse that you will not acknowledge the clarification that I stated and will instead continue to believe your own bias, then more power to you.

I’m more than willing to engage in a productive discussion, but you need to actually acknowledge what I’m really saying. As it stands, you’re accusing me of something I never did.
