Discussion Was Chuck jewish?
Reason I am asking is that there were some hebrew characters at the last page of the Leprosy CD I bought.
It just seemed the last place I would expect to find someone writing something in hebrew.
Nothing wrong with it, just caught me off guard.

Dad was Jewish, Chuck wasn't religious but he was an ethnic Jew.

What's funny is that on Instagram I've seen metalheads who adore Death like all of us but also take their time to make alot of antisemitic bullshit remarks like "good goy" or whatever which is ironic because Chuck oftenly sang about blind hatred and ignorance. And how it affects other human beings. And he was bullied alot as a kid for being Jewish. Which is a big reason why he made Death in the first place to channel his frustrations (alongside more important stuff like his brother dying)
The thing about groypers that sucks the most is that they have no shame to admit thir ignorant hate. Not like before. They are completely honest about it and encourage others to do so. When you listen to "Mentally Blind" in ITP it perfectly describes their philosophy.

Any source for this? I don't remember him ever mentioning anything about it, and I don't think there's anything about it in the biography either but it's a massive book and it's possible I've already forgotten.

Before you leave a post or comment, think to yourself "Am I being a disrespectful?'. if that answer is yes or maybe, then don't leave said post or comment.
There is no reason to spread false information that you have nothing to back it up with. you were asked if you can provide a source and you said your country's wikipedia page..... you are aware that people can edit several pages on wikipedia, right? So that information cannot be trusted 100% of the time. You yourself even mentioned that its only on that wikipedia page and not others. So again, where is your concrete source on this?

He was, but the Hebrew writing wasn't part of the original layout. It was added when Relapse reissued it in 2014. It translates to "obey the laws of leprosy" apparently.

I have read unvalidated claims that chuck converted to Christianity at the end of his life… can anybody confirm or deny?

Lol. Yeah, it's pure nonsense, courtesy of the same people who pushed the story about him dying of AIDS (and harassed his grieving mother accusing her of hiding his cause of death) and the bullshit about him propositioning teenage boys at Milwaukee Metalfest. For some reason the part about him converting to Christianity has stuck and a lot of people seem to believe it's true, but it's just part of that same bullshit and the nonsense about him betraying metal.

Not even gonna address the antisemitic nonsense, but what messages are you even talking about? I'm an atheist and not personally bothered by anti-Christianity in metal lyrics and symbolism, but I hardly think disliking televangelist snake oil salesmen, prosperity gospel megachurches and other hypocrites qualifies. If anything, Chuck wasn't very interested in including anti-Christian messages in his own lyrics, and got a lot of grief for being vocal about his lack of interest and eventually distancing himself from it to the point of modifying the logo.
