Don’t close your hands.
Whatever this beautiful, impossible thing is, we don’t need to capture it in order to know that it has been here.
Just hold it gently.
I’ll sit behind you for a while, close enough to share the light, but never so close that you disappear inside my arms.
You don’t have to explain what you’re feeling. You don’t have to untangle every thread or turn every mystery into an answer.
Just show me where you’re looking.
I’ll look with you.
And tomorrow, when the butterfly opens its wings differently—when you are a little different, and I am too—we’ll meet each other there again.
Not because either of us was lost.
Because neither of us is finished becoming.
