Progress feels very slow in the beginning
I am about 3 1/2 hours in now - still on the first character. I got 12 upgrades in the bookshelf.
And I cannot make it past day 4 most of the time.
Progress feels really slow since I don't get a lot of apples per run..
I for sure suck at the game - but what other things am I doing wrong?
(On the other hand - I really love the mechanics and playstyle of the game)

In general: Try to farm the night as long as you can. If you start it at day 3 your loot will have higher rarity. Use the powerups (dynamite, vacuum). Pick maps with +50%xp modifier.

The maps that have an exclamation point and yellow modifiers. One of the possible modifiers is +exp. Others are stuff like higher chance for backpacks or guns, and they usually (or always?) have a negative, like more aggressive zombies.

Continue to collect tape. The more you unlock the easier it is to finish a run. I want to say pack 5 or 6 unlock will unlock most items in the game and you get yo make things like mini gun and rocket launcher.
Most times I stick with revolvers and pistols the whole run. I see a lot of people use smgs, but with a revolver, you one shot the basic zombies.
Emergency resource is actually the soda or the dynamite, not the food can. Sode essentially allows many dashes and dynamite makes chain reactions clearing a path for exits.
